Own This Year
Skooly & Spiffy Global
A couple of weeks after his King Cosa tape, Skooly is back with a deep new record, “Own This Year,” produced by one of ATL’s hottest young talents in Spiffy Global. With a steady, improvised flow, the TRU trapper conveys feelings of pain, anger, and ultimately, hope, knowing that, as he’s made it this far, this upcoming year is his for the taking.
Hard To Breathe
Ca$h Out Feat. Playboi Carti
Ca$h Out hasn't dropped a full project this year, though he's been steadily releasing new tracks, and most of all of them have sounded fresh. After dropping two tracks last month, the eccentric trapper is back with a new collab with fellow Atlantan Playboi Carti. The song, "Hard to Breathe," features the slinky synth work of DJ Spinz, with whom Ca$h has had a fruitful history.
"My Buddy" serves as a gun metaphor on Rico Richie's new track, and while it's a metaphor that's been used before, and Rico also uses it to great effect. Opening with a dusty, child-sung sample, the record quickly changes pace into a pulverizing bass-driven beat from DJ Spinz, but just when you thought the intro was provided for contrast, it shows up again in the hook, as Rico delivers an effective call-and-response with the cut-up vocal.
Swimming In The Money
iLoveMakonnen is feeling extra generous this weekend. In the wee hours last night, he dropped off a 10-minute non-stop freestyle, during which he basically relayed his entire life story. It's powerful stuff. Next, he decided to release a romantic ballad, "Stay With Me Tonight," produced by Sonny Digital.
Heard What I Said
Ca$h Out Feat. Young Sizzle
Ca$h Out has his pulse on some of the hottest trap sounds in Atlanta right now. He's has two new bubbling singles, February's "Extra," produced by Inomek in da Kitchen, and "Born for This," featuring Rich Homie Quan, released a month ago.
Fuck Em All
After dropping the video to "One Eyed Shooters," his new collab with Waka Flocka, Young Sizzle (aka Southside) is back with a new track, "Fuck Em All." This time, he doesn't go in over one of his own productions, but instead, calls upon his frequent collaborator DJ Spinz to lay down some bonkers 808s.
Hundred Mo Dolla$
Teddy Pinderassdown still hasn't given a release date for Stoicville: The Phoenix, but at least he's giving us new music. This afternoon he releases a new song called "Hundred Mo Dolla$" in an HNHH premiere. Produced by DJ Spinz and T-Pain himself, "Hundred Mo Dolla$" sounds a lot like Epiphany-era T-Pain, with the addition of Spinz' trunk-rattling 808s. The song is about Pain's relationship with the club, which is a continual drain on his cash reserves.
With Felt Like Cappin and ColleGrove both already under his belt, no one's having a hotter 2016 than 2 Chainz. Now we've got another new Tity joint titled "Lotta Hoes," taken off of DJ Scream's new mixtape, Legend. The track is produced by another Hoodrich legend in DJ Spinz.
Lil Uzi Vert Feat. Playboi Carti
Lil Uzi Vert is back with another one. The rapper has been knocking out show after show lately, and while he continues to promote the iTunes version of Luv Is Rage, he somehow still finds the time to release new records. We last heard from him over the absolute banger from DP Beatz, "He Did It," and today he teams up with Playboi Carti for "Left, Right."
It's been ten days since our last Chief Keef leak, "Run Up," so it's about time for another Keef cut to hit the web. This one is a Metro Boomin and DJ Spinz-produced joint, "Too Turnt," otherwise known as "TT." The record finds Keef chanting that he's "TT," naming all the ladies and/or drugs he's surrounded by. We're unsure where this song will land, as Keef has a few projects in the work.
Bake Sale (Snippet)
Wiz Khalifa & Travis Scott
Wiz Khalifa recently announced that "Bake Sale," his highly anticipated record with Travi$ Scott, will appear on his upcoming project Khalifa. With that dropping in over a week, TM88 did the world a favor by liberating a snippet -- the first minute or so -- of "Bake Sale" during an appearance on a radio show this week.
Ty Dolla $ign Feat. T.I., French Montana & A$AP Ferg
Ty Dolla $ign just dropped not one, but TWO remixes of his eternal banger "Blasé." Between DJ Spinz's intoxicating production and Future on the hook, the track has produced more than its fair share of dance floor magic. Today, it is the gift that keeps on giving. The first remix featured Jeezy, Juicy J, & Diddy -- for the second, Ty recruits the talents of T.I., French Montana, & A$AP Ferg.
Coming up under the wing of DJ Spinz, ATL rapper and Hoodrich member Kickstand is making his debut on HNHH this evening with his latest release “Mario Kart,” and deservingly so. As the title depicts, the track is a mario kart-themed banger that finds Kickstand referencing Bowser, Donkey Kong, Luigi, and of course Mario in the process. No word yet as for where this will end up, but hopefully there’s more on the way. Take a listen and let us know what you think of the rising ATLien.
Ty Dolla $ign
This afternoon, Ty came through with his new mixtape, Airplane Mode. It was a semi-surprise, as he only announced the project yesterday, with the release of the tape's title track. The full 10-song mixtape stays firmly within the r'n'b lane Ty has been carving out for himself, with assistance on the beats from dudes like DJ Mustard, the D.R.U.G.S collective, Sonny Digital, Mike WiLL Made It and more.
DJ Holiday Feat. Meek Mill, Future & T.I.
DJ Holiday just dropped his unbelievably stacked God Bless The Mixtape, and although it's hard to pick a highlight, any track with Meek MIll, Future and T.I. on it should be deserving. This one's called "Flexin," and was produced by DJ Spinz and Dun Deal.
French Montana Feat. Chris Brown & Migos
French Montana's new tape has such an eclectic guest list that there's truly something for everyone on Casino Life 2: Paper Bag Legend. For the ATL fans and Chris Brown apologists among you, there's "Moses," a gargantuan record produced by the formidable team of Southside, 808 Mafia and DJ Spinz.
Fuck That Bitch
Gucci Mane Feat. Young Scooter & Bankroll Fresh
Gucci Mane's output can't be stopped. Despite being locked up for over a year, Mr. Wop has released more mixtapes over the course of his incarceration than many have done in the span of an entire career. As we looked at in our recent feature, The Guwop Effect: A History Of Gucci Mane's Co-Signs, the rapper is known for his A&R work as much as he is for his strong work ethic.
Yesterday Tity Boi debated with Nancy Grace about the legalization of pot, and while she had a pretty ridiculous argument, 2 Chainz did a good job of combating her and making her look like a fool. Or maybe she just is a fool. Either way, with the interview setting the internet ablaze, the Hair Weave Killa quickly returns today with another leak off T.R.U. Jack City, "Road Dawg." As we announced yesterday, we're rolling out content weekly as part of Chainz's TRUsday series-- so consider this a bonus cut.
Like A Hott Boyy
Kid Ink Feat. Young Thug & Bricc Baby
By citing Lil Wayne as his first-, second- and third-favorite rapper and basing an entire verse in Rich Gang's "I Got" off of Wayne's iconic "Oops, I meant..." lyric structure, Young Thug had already proven himself to be a Weezy devotee long before "Take Kare" dropped. Now, he's back with another Wayne homage, this time coming in the hook of Kid Ink's new track "Like A Hott Boyy." Accompanied by MPA Shitro (formerly known as Shitty Montana, billed as Bricc Baby Shitro) and a beat from Metro Boomin and DJ Spinz, Thug and Ink pay tribute to Wayne's first group.
Atlanta's Bankroll Fresh has some seriously dope tracks under his belt, including a recent one with B.o.B, but he has yet to break out with a big hit. "Buss It," his latest, could be just that for him. It was co-produced by DJ Spinz and Nitti.
