Far Rock emcee Devin Lee made quite an impression last month with "Tax Money," and his skills are just as evident on his new record "Hennessy Rain." Over a soft, glimmering production -- sounding like the sonic equivalent of Hennessy-coated raindrops -- Lee explores the cosmos with an exciting, imaginative energy. Whether his lyrics be abstract or readily-relatable, they connect smoothly and cohesively. The track is produced by Hush Forte, who crafted the beat for Dave East's "Still."

On "Hennessy Rain," Lee explores various cosmic metaphors before bringing his raps back down to his street-level reality, and it's a fascinating trip. A little over halfway through the track, he slows down and sings about dancing in Hennessy Rain while immersing himself into the beat. The final verse is more straight to the point, as he relays a sensual late-night encounter with his female inspiration. It's rare for a track with so much far-out lyrical content to actually connect on a romantic level. The track should prompt the listener to find his or her own world of Hennessy Rain upon this Friday evening.

Quotable Lyrics

I show you reasons why you stay inside on a Friday night
Candlelight, moon-lit, two sips, take a flight
You and I, lay under covers, escape to paradise
