Yesterday, talented Florida rapper Denzel Curry dropped off a brief freestyle called "2055 Freestyle," produced by Mr. Carmack, who is one of these versatile electronic producers like Kaytranada and Sango who are low-key slipping fire beats towards their favorite rappers. Here he layers some sort of tribal chant over trappy drums and counteracts the harshness with some smooth, ATCQ-style chords. It wouldn't have felt totally out of place among the nuanced, trippy production on 32 Zel / Planet Shrooms, the outstanding project Curry dropped back in June.
"2055 Freestyle" is just 69 seconds long, which is kind of a bummer. Here's hoping this is simply a sneak preview of more to come from Carmack and Curry.
