The highly talented Charlotte emcee known as WELL$ has released The Way I'm Living Makes My Mom Nervous, his first project since 2014's MTSYD: The Revenge of the African Booty Scratcher, which earned him a spot in our On The Come Up series. His new album is released via his Immaculate Taste label. The 11-track project includes the previously released tracks "Young Man" -- a collab with NC indie duo Sylvan Esso, the "98 Juvie" remix with fellow Charlottean Deniro Farrar, and "130," which he recorded at HNHH Studios.

A3C Festival and Conference has just announced the lineup for its 12th year. Headlining acts include Rick Ross, 21 Savage, Bone Thugs N' Harmony, YFN Lucci, Bun B, Cam'ron, Young Dolph, Royce 5’9”, Redman, Too Short, Mystikal, Zaytoven, Bun B. 1000+ artists and 75+ shows. God damn! But wait, there's more: the festival will host "dozens of panels, workshops, meetups, mentor sessions, podcasts, interviews and screenings" with everyone from Master P to distinguished hip hop photographer Jonathan Mannion.

Young God is one half of the San Francisco production duo Blue Sky Black Death, known for their production work alongside innovative underground rappers like Deniro Farrar and Nacho Picasso. Young God linked with Farrar for a joint mixtape, Cliff of Death 2, in summer 2015, and he's since been focusing on his solo instrumental work. He has combined three years of his best work, including some of his choice beats from previous projects as well as new and unheard instrumentals, into one project: ...but he who causes the darkness.

Cole's rise in the rap game and his mainstream popularity, he's become the face and representative for the state on behalf of the whole genre.

Deniro Farrar Inks A Record Deal With VICE / Warner Bros.
We've been supporting Deniro consistently since March, and couldn't be happier to learn he's taken his career to the next level. After several years of relentless grinding, the rising Charlotte, North Carolina emcee has officially signed a record deal with VICE and Warner Bros. Records. Based in Brooklyn, VICE is also home to the Black Lips, OFF!, Justice, Snoop Lion, Action Bronson, Raveonettes, Team Spirit, Vybz Kartel and WIN WIN. Here's their official statement on the matter:
On The Come-Up: Deniro Farrar
Qushawan Farrar, aka Deniro Farrar, is a rising rapper born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina - specifically the Little Rock Apartments and the high-crime community of Tuckaseegee (704 Queen's City, CLT). Working with independent label Black Flag Records, he started gathering momentum in late 2010 with the release of Feel This, his 31-track debut mixtape.
