Dee-1 surprises fans this morning with a new mixtape, Slingshot David, as a direct response to the tragic killing of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dee-1 is a Louisiana native so it must have hit home with him-- and obviously with the even more recent unwarranted killing of Philando Castile, his project is as timely as they come. Dee-1 isn't the only artist to release music as a response to the injustices he's seeing around him though, Chris Brown released a new record in response as well.
The mixtape contains his recent remix of "Against Us" with Lupe Fiasco and Big K.R.I.T., and fifteen other records. Production comes from Justen Williams, Jaymison Beverly, Rico Beats and more.
