Although r'n'b sweetheart Aaliyah passed away almost 12 years ago, the rights to her music are still being debated to this day.
A music publishing company is suing a record company for allegedly selling bootleg copies of Aaliyah's songs on the internet. Reservoir Media Management filed the lawsuit against the record company Craze Productions, claiming that they have been illegally selling songs from Aaliyah's albums Aaliyah and One in a Million on iTunes.
Reservoir claims they own the rights to these Aaliyah songs since purchasing them in 2012, and they never gave permission to Craze to sell them.
Reservoir is asking a judge to stop Craze from selling the stolen songs, and asking to be compensated with money.
