Common gave us some details on his upcoming mixtape (his very first) back in January, but otherwise we haven't heard much about the projects he's promised this year. The legendary emcee has now given us a little more information on his ambitious plans for the near future.

The GOOD music rapper first spoke of his respect for a newcomer to the game. “I got my man Vince Staples on a song,” Common said, concerning his upcoming EP. “I like him. He’s cold on the mic. When I heard him rapping, I was like, ‘This dude can really rhyme.’ It made me want to write.”

The Chicago wordsmith then revealed that his album will follow in the new year. “I've only got a couple songs, but I’m gonna get the EP done quick and then I’m gonna release an LP at the top of next year,” he said.

Back in September 2012, Common gave us a bit of insight into what the album will entail.

"I am writing a new album,"he said. "It will be coming out in January, and I'm looking forward to that. My stuff will come at the top of the year, maybe some songs out there on the street level. I'm going to work with No I.D. and looking to hopefully work with Kanye [West] and that's some of the major people I'll be working with, and whatever other great talents that I feel are going that direction that I want the album to be."
