"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” Hard work and dedication symbolize this young man destined for stardom. Critics say the torch Jacksonville, Fl once carried is no longer lit. But the type of talent that has been displayed so early in his young career says quite the opposite for the future. The young man that is about to change the complexion of how Jacksonville is received is so excited about what's ahead of him. He goes by the name “City Boi.” Born in Albany, GA; raised in Jacksonville, Fl; Johan Smith better known as City Boi, takes music directed toward females to another level. Every day you hear singers who serenade females, but never a rapper. His southern style and distinct flow separates him from the field of up and coming artists. His presence has already drawn the attention of many, labeling him a heartthrob in the making. All the proof needed to display the passion and pride this 22 year old carries is revealed inside the recording studio and on stage. The only question remains is, is the world ready? City Boi has been a local celebrity hitting the stage in many venues around Jacksonville, Fl; The first track to hit the airwaves was “LIGHTS”, which got play in South Carolina and play in Jacksonville; “Lights” Also got spins in local clubs in Jacksonville and a few clubs in Ybor city, which is located in Tampa, fl. This grew the high anticipation for his debut CD(mixtape) “I Am That Guy.” City Boi’s main drive is his family. “I’m just making sure that one day my family will be straight. Yes I have more passion for music than one could imagine, but I’m in this to better my surroundings as well” City Boi expresses whole-heartedly. “I also want to give back to the community and help the people less fortunate.” Growing up countless people told him he would amount to nothing, but if you see what I see, he has all the right tools and the right mindset to prosper not only as an artist but as a human being.
