These days the Flatbush section of Brooklyn is New York's answer to Compton, a hip hop hotbed that has produced Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers, and Joey Bada$$' Pro Era collective.

Pro Era's Chuck Strangers is better known for his production than his bars, but the dude can definitely rap. He pays homage to East Flatbush with a new song called "34th & Beverley," which he describes as "a dedication to all my niggas that was down since day one."

Strangers' bro Jake Bowman lays down some psychedelic guitar -- some straight Hendrix shit -- a sound not typically heard in the sonic universe of rap music, but no sounds are off limits to the adventurous, talented members of Pro Era.

Quotable Lyrics

Back in the day, he would give me a whole eighth and walk me to the train safe
Tell me "Grown man, walk, only coward niggas strafe"
