French Montana's 31st birthday went down earlier this week, and while the Coke Boy has a lot to celebrate, the death of his friend and collaborator Chinx this spring still feels pretty fresh. Chris Brown came through with a fitting gift for the occassion, painting a portrait (along with artist Dee Cosey) of French Montana and Chinx -- the latter with angel wings and a halo.

This morning, we got the first original Chinx track since he was murdered in Queens last month, the MeetSims-assisted "On Your Body," and now, we've got the release date for the posthumous album it'll appear on. Long in-the-works before Chinx's tragic passing, his debut album Welcome To JFK will arrive on August 14th, with "On Your Body" acting as the first single.
Five Arrested At French Montana Video Shoot
Five people were arrested during a French Montana video shoot yesterday (May 30) in Brooklyn. According to New York Daily News, undercover cops entered the shoot, behind a Fulton St. supermarket, at 6:15pm and arrested three men and two women on guns and drugs charges. Four pistols were found on set, as well as cocaine, marijuana, and molly. A picture of the contraband can be seen in the above gallery.
Juelz Santana & Jadakiss Suggest Benefit Concert For Chinx's Family
Chinx's funeral takes place today in Queens, and while donations toward his family will be accepted at the service, a few fellow New York rappers are hoping to organize an event that can raise some more money for the cause. Juelz Santana, who's been active in the city's rap scene since Chinx first set foot in the game, suggested on Instagram that the local artist come together to throw a show, sending all proceeds toward the grieving family.

Early Sunday morning Coke Boy's next up, Chinx (real name Lionel Pickens), was sitting in his Porsche Panamera with a fellow Coke Boy when a barrage of bullets killed him. Few details have been released thus far, although Chinx's team released a statement over the weekend confirming his passing.

When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music.
