A native to Los Angeles, Ca., Chassidi Dae discovered his love for music at an early age by attending studio sessions with his mother, a local singer at the time. As a young boy, he began writing his own songs and performing covers of artists like Ginuwine, Jodeci, and R Kelly at his elementary school talent shows. At age 10 his love for hip hop began. He was introduced to artists such as Tupac Sh akur, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Biggie Smalls, Nas, LL Cool J, Jay-Z, Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Eazy –E, Slick Rick, and Busta Rhymes. His favorites became Nas, Common, and Rakim. Through their use of metaphors and their skills as lyricists, they painted a reflection of their lives and the lives around them. Chassidi Dae wanted to do the same. He began to focus on his lyrical depth and use of metaphors when it came to his own music. Chassidi began merging Hip Hop with his love for Soul, creating a modern, youthful sound coupled with intelligent lyrics that others could easily relate to and vibe with. His high tenor vocals bring the mellow tones of an older spirit while his lyrics reveal an observant youth, relaying his experiences; from growing up in the urban community of L.A. to his alternative reality while living abroad.
