The Weeknd's "Starboy" (Review) Dec 1, 2016 at 07:33pm
Earlier this week I came across a tweet from a music blog hyping a new artist as "mysterious," and for a second I thought I had travelled back in time to 2011. Mystery had been a prized value all throughout 20th Century pop music, having a hand in popularizing Led Zeppelin's fourth album, Jim Morrison's identity as a quasi-religious figure, Robert Johnson's "Crossroads" myth, and various Tupac death conspiracies, but the internet changed everything.

When Drake and Future linked up just over a year ago for What A Time To Be Alive, it was an almost earth-shattering event in hip hop, regardless of the album's quality. One was (and still is) undeniably the most popular rapper on the planet, and the other was (and probably isn't at the moment) the hottest, the guy who was just capping one of the craziest 12-month runs we've seen in this decade.

Earlier this year, HNHH launched a Spotify playlist called FIRE EMOJI: The Hottest Hip Hop Songs Right Now.  The playlist is updated on a daily basis. It lives on Spotify and thus is inherently imperfect, because not all super-hot hip hop songs have been added to Spotify. Still, the playlist is generally representative of the best new releases in hip hop and R&B.

While preparing to hit the studio with Daft Punk, The Weeknd shared a snippet from an unreleased song on Instagram Wednesday afternoon. The only contextual hint he included was a cat emoji, which might mean that the song is produced by Cashmere Cat. Last night, Cashmere mentioned that he would release the first single from his album on Friday, so this appears to be the most likely scenario.

There Could Be A Version Of Kanye West's "Wolves" With Drake & Björk Mar 6, 2016 at 10:38pm
The mystery of "Wolves" continues. Kanye first unveiled a version of the song during an iconic performance on SNL 40 in February of last year. The song featured Vic Mensa and Sia, who both joined him on stage. An official version of "Wolves" wouldn't be heard until a year later, when, on February 11, he played his new album, The Life of Pablo, to a sold-out crowd at MSG.

Right now in Brooklyn, Kanye West is hosting a fashion show for his new "Yeezy Boost" shoe, but attendees are getting much more than a runway show. Ye just played "Wolves", a new song featuring Vic Mensa and Sia, and said it'll be the first song on his new album. Text appeared on screens that informed people of the featured artists and placement on the tracklist. Check that out below, as well as a snippet snagged by someone in attendance.
