The NFL regular season is coming to an end. This time of year usually means a few things. Some teams will be going to the playoffs to compete for a Super Bowl while other teams go home for the season. It's a time when players like to reflect on their career and what their plans are for the future. Kyle Williams, a defensive tackle for the Buffalo Bills has decided to take his future into his own hands and retire from the game, according to ESPN.

Williams played all 13 years of his career with the Buffalo Bills and of all the players on the team's roster, he has been there the longest. He has played in 186 games which is a record among Bills defensive tackles.

In an open letter to the fans on the Bills' official website, Williams said "This isn’t easy. It was never going to be. There’s no perfect time to retire from a game, a franchise, and a city that mean so much to me and my family. But it’s time to hang up my cleats."

The five-time Pro-Bowler explained that he was "grateful" for his opportunity in Buffalo adding "Thank you to the Pegulas, to the Wilson family, to my teammates, to Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane, to my family, and to the fans. I’ve been at this a really long time but it doesn’t feel like it, and that’s a testament to your unwavering support."

Williams will take to the field one last time when the Bills take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
