The noose incident involving Bubba Wallace continues to divide. The lone Black NASCAR driver has recently spoken out against the Confederate flag being allowed in the sport and has come forward in support of Black Lives Matter, upsetting many NASCAR fans. Recently, there was reportedly a noose found in Bubba Wallace's garage, and while he wasn't the person who found it or reported it to authorities, people still attacked the driver after the FBI concluded that a hate crime didn't occur because the noose had been at the location for quite some time.
Following the FBI assessment of the situation at hand, Bubba Wallace came forward to say that his integrity was still intact as he continued to speak candidly about the incident. People have called the event "Jussie 2.0" after Jussie Smollett who, police claim, orchestrated an attack on himself last year.
Regardless of the noose's validity, Bubba Wallace's mother, Desiree Wallace, has stated that her son regularly has racially-charged moments with his fellow drives. “If he gets into an incident with another driver, they’re quick to throw out the n-word. He’s been told he doesn’t belong. We’ve been through all of that," she said prior to finding out about the FBI's conclusion. “I teach my son, ‘You don’t throw back at them. You just get in that race car and win. ... That’s the way you fight back.‘”
