The Black Eyed Peas began as a hip-hop group in the early 90's, but evolved into an electronic pop band by 2003. After Fergie joined in 2001, the group switched their sound to command the music charts. The plan worked, and Black Eyed Peas became one of the biggest pop groups in the world. Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, and Taboo have not forgotten their hip-hop roots though, and without Fergie in the collective, Black Eyed Peas delves back into the world of rap.

Masters Of The Sun Vol. 1 is the first album from the group since 2010, and the first project without Fergie since 2003's Elephunk. There is still a hint of the electro-pop sound, but the essence of hip-hop overpowers the Billboard friendly productions. Masters Of The Sun Vol. 1 is blessed by features from several members of hip-hop royalty such as Nas, Slick Rick, the late Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and De La Soul's Posdnuos. Masters Of The Sun Vol. 1 is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal
