After much patience and impotence, the world has been blessed with the release of Smoke DZA & Pete Rock's collaboration album Don't Smoke Rock. Rae Sremmurd are gearing up for their second annual SremmFest, an event they started last year as an homage of sorts to the parties they experienced growing up in Tupelo, Mississippi, something which they discussed with us during our digital cover interview. Last year's SremmFest featured K Camp, Dej Loaf, Yo Gotti and Mike WiLL Made It and more. The brothers will be headlining the event this year, with appearances from Diplo, Young Dolph, Big K.R.I.T. and more.

We have been rather impressed with SiR ever since he dropped Seven Sundays in 2015. Today, the 29-year-old Los Angeles singer continued his musical journey with a new 6-track release called Her. It features an excellent appearance from Big K.R.I.T., which we've already heard, and production by J.

The Best Hip Hop Songs (On Spotify) Of September 2016 Oct 3, 2016 at 02:42pm
Earlier this year, HNHH launched a Spotify playlist called FIRE EMOJI: The Hottest Hip Hop Songs Right Now.  The playlist is updated on a daily basis. It lives on Spotify and thus is inherently imperfect, because not all super-hot hip hop songs have been added to Spotify. Still, the playlist is generally representative of the best new releases in hip hop and R&B.

This week was dominated more by saddening news stories than it was by music, but the social outcry regarding the many innocent lives that were taken in the past week have also resulted directly in new music-- it's bittersweet, obviously. With plenty of artists hitting the booth to give their own take on the tense social climate, we definitely didn't lack in songs this past week.

MCs and producers are traditionally two different people, but occasionally the hip hop world is blessed with an artist that can play both roles. Dr. Dre once claimed to be a "a producer who can rap and control the maestro," and when he said it, there weren't a whole bunch of dudes who were capable of doing it. Since then, artists like MF DOOM, Kanye West, and J. Cole have made some serious beats, and then blessed them with their own flow.
