Showtime is currently prepping the arrival of a new documentary that will document Berry Gordy's Motown record label.

The new film, Hitsville: The Making Of Motown is set to span over the creation of the legendary musical hub and its expansion to a global powerhouse between 1958 to 1971, focusing on its humble beginnings in Detroit to its eventual relocation to Los Angeles.

The documentary is directed by the duo of Gabe and Ben Turner while being executive produces by Gordy himself. Variety reports that the documentary will feature interviews and accounts from Gordy along with the decorated talent that has graced Motown's roster over the years.

Hitsville is critical not only to the history of music in America, but also the history of America itself,” says a Showtime rep. “You’ve never seen Motown explored and remembered the way that Gabe and Ben Turner do it here.”

It marks the latest in Showtime's programming of music-related content. Most recently, the network unleashed the highly-anticipated Wu-Tang Clan Of Mics and Men anthology. Showtime has also secured exclusive licensing for Prince's Sign O' The Times concert film and also has a Teddy Pendergrass If You Don't Know Me By Now documentary in its rotation.

The new Hitsville flick is slated to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Motown in September.
