Blues legend B.B. King passes away at age 89.
Blues-- and more widely, music in general-- lost a legend last night. Revolutionary blues guitarist B.B. King passed away at age 89 in Las Vegas. His daughter, Patty, said he'd been in hospice care for the past two weeks for dehydration.
Even after being diagnosed with diabetes almost 30 years ago, King pursued a relentless touring schedule, often performing 300 shows per year. Today, hip hop mourns the loss of one of America's true musical mavericks. Read artists' reactions to the news below.

BB King is a major loss to the culture but I'm glad he made it to 89. That's an accomplishment in itself in this business ..— PRhyme (@Royceda59) May 15, 2015
It was an honor to have met and worked with such a genuine soul. Mr. King gave me an opportunity musically but also shared the vast knowledge he learned over the years. I am truly saddened by your passing but God has called you home and your legacy will live on 4eva. My prayers go out to the King family and friends. #RestInPeaceBBKing #PrayingMan #TheBluesWillNeverBeTheSame #MississippiNative
Rest in Peace Mr.King. My grandmother looked after you in Lexington,Ms as a little boy. You were brought up around music with my whole family. You were family to them. You had a drive though and a love for music that couldn't be contained in the small city with a population of about 3,000. You took your guitar and walked out that city to follow your dreams. Just know that stories I was taught about your fight to be heard have inspired me. The Pate Family loves you🌻 R.I.P wish we could've finally got to perform together.
