She's no stranger to controversy and, indeed, she's quite famously outspoken, but Azealia Banks caused a particularly big splash today when she released a string of twitter posts targeting her current label, Universal, notably referring to them "as a group of old white guys," who don't understand the first thing about her craft.

If that post, publicly directed at her employers, didn't sounded confrontational enough, she later tweeted, "I REALLY should have signed with Sony. Can someone at Sony buy me off of Universal please?? I'm really in hell here." She then added, "they don't even know what they're listening for or to. I'm literally begging to be dropped from Universal."

The young rapper, of 212 lore, has expressed dissatisfaction with her label before. Her debut album, Broke with Expensive Taste, has not yet seen the light of day after a string of delays, stalling a career that most folks were anticipated to have already broken out, after her break-out song, 212 achieved massive internet popularity. Her comments directed at Sony are referring to the fact that the label did show her interest before she opted to go with Universal.

"My fans really need some new music. I've been gratefully riding off of mixtape fumes for the past two years but I'm more ready than ever....." she said. It is unclear what lies in store for her now, but in the meantime, you can fuel her mixtape fumes by listening to it here. Stay tuned.
