During a sit down with Jada Pinkett-Smith, 24 year-old singer August Alsina recently opened up about his battle with liver disease. "I feel like sadness and depression is so embedded in my DNA," says Alsina, in an Instagram preview of the discussion. The young singer goes on to talk about his health, telling Pinkett Smith "I have a liver disease. My autoimmune system is fighting itself. The reality is that I’m sick all the time...I don’t really like to talk about it because I’m not looking for anybody’s sympathy,” Alsina adds. “Don’t treat me like I’m a fuckin’ cancer patient, because I’m not.”
Back in 2014, Alsina collapsed on stage, which led to the singer falling into a three day coma. The following year, Alsina revealed that his eyesight was deteriorating. Still, the singer seems resolved to stay positive, referring to his conversation with Jada as "the most HEALING conversations."
