Today marks the release of teen prodigy Astro (formerly The Astronomical Kid)'s EP Computer Era. To celebrate, the Brooklyn native has shared a video for EP cut "Champion."
Beginning with a "based on a true story" and a newspaper featuring the face of Muhammad Ali, the video shows the young rapper in the middle of a boxing ring. He flows deftly over a buoyant, piano-led beat that floats above a hard-knocking boom-bap drumbeat. The video follows an even younger actor through the streets, and then-fast-forwards to a future wherein he's a boxer competing right next to Astro in the ring.
