Giving you the direct perspective from QuESt and his producer 6ix, "Track Breakdown" is an HNHH series that highlights a specific cut by speaking to both the artist and producer about the song's creation.
You probably know the dilly if you are a frequent HNHH viewer, but if not, this is some audio that (I feel) may have been overlooked from last week. Listen below. Travis Scott- Animal Feat. T.I.
Drunk Kenneth Faried Says"My D**k Is Big" & Would Pose For Playgirl Jul 17, 2013 at 12:32pm 8,938 Views
Kenneth Faried not only bore it all in ESPN’s “The Body” issue but he was on the cover, and in a recent intoxicated interview with TMZ he says he was not nervous about being naked because, he is “comfortable” with his body. Leaving a pre-ESPYS event, Faried was stopped by a TMZ camera guy, and he had one too many drinks and was heard saying to a fan “I’m drunk...I’m too drunk.”
Durant Says Reporter's On Molly & J.R. Smith Insults NY Reporter Jul 16, 2013 at 05:54pm 11,466 Views
The temperatures rising during the summer and so are tempers as both Kevin Durant and J.R.
The spike in album sales we saw accompany the Grammys and Valentine's Day has now subsided, with overall album sales having decreased by 20% over the week. Nonetheless our charts are staying pretty consistent: two female stars continue gripping onto the top spots of Charts Don't Lie, while their male counterparts take spots beneath them.
This week, as per usual, we provide you with five records from the past seven days that caught our attention but may have been missed by you. Check out some upcoming talent from the likes of Vic Mensa and CJ Fly, peep a crazy remix from dead prez, and more in this week's Underrated Audio. Click through the images above, and let us know which underrated records you're feeling at the moment.
As the last week of August comes to an end, here are some final summer jams to add to your playlist. A banger or two and some chill vibes. Nitty Scott, MC- Flower Child Feat. Kendrick Lamar Many clicked on this song just for the K.Dot feature, but Nitty Scott also brings it. It's a chilled out track, and the beat even reminds me of flowers. Rapsody- Round Table Discussion Feat.
This week's UA brings you two up-tempo beats and two dark beats to enjoy in the summer heat. That kinda rhymed but it wasn't my intention. Also to clarify about UA, it's not necessarily for unknown artists, it's just artists that I'm feeling who's music HNHH posted but didn't get as much play time by HNHH viewers as I would have hoped. Aight. Sir Michael Rocks- Now You Do
As we do every week, we provide you with several overlooked tracks that appeared on the site this past week in Underrated Audio. The records on here didn't quite hit as many views as we thought they deserved, so we're giving them a second look. Check out the five selections of the week in the gallery above.
Well, today is the day that Lil Wayne's album I Am Not A Human Being II officially dropped. Although we're positive it will sell given Weezy's huge fanbase, we're not so sure about the content there within. If you're not in a Wayne mood today, we've got five new tracks from the past week that we're tryna show a little more love too, so give them a listen.
For now, rap releases have slowed down, but new ones are on the way. The month of June promises to be one full of album drops-- which all fall under a few different dates. The biggest date by far, is, of course, June 18th. The date which 'Ye tweeted a month ago is (unsurprisingly?) turning out to be a huge one in terms of hip-hop.
This week was obviously a memorable one for hip-hop, with Big Sean's "Control" dropping and a Kendrick Lamar frenzy ensuing. While the verse has received way more attention than we could have imagined, plenty of rappers are retaliating and introducing new excitement into the rap game which isn't a bad thing.
This week we don't have too many songs for your to look through.
Last week was pretty reasonable on the music-front, this week is about to get mad busy though, there's a ton of albums and mixtapes dropping. I haven't downloaded a complete new mixtape for a minute though, except for Clams Casino's Instrumental Tape 2 (any song of which I could have posted here...but instead I'll just tell you to go check it out entirely).
More than any other artists or group (excepting Scarface) Outkast is responsible for the rise of southern rap. They were among the first acts to gain recognition from the region and remain one of the most commercially and critically successful rap groups to date.
Last week with the success of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, we asked if independent artists' marketing strategy would be the new wave and replace the major labels on the charts. Their album The Heist saw a steep decline in sales, and might have topped out early. In what is one of the slowest week in Hip Hop/R&B sales of recent months, we get a semi-surprising name at the #1 spot.
Battle rap is quickly growing as a culture. What was almost completely relegated to street corners and Youtube a few years ago has garnered national recognition, more tv programming, Pay-Per-View events, and other attention of the mainstream media. Hip Hop icons like Eminem and Snoop Dogg have put on events for the battle scene and at this rate things can only continue to expand.
Eminem week officially hit us with full force. We've seen legendary rappers like Jay Z and Kanye West both drop albums this past year, but none compared to the chart domination of Slim Shady. As we mentioned last week, a few of Em's old albums had popped back up on the Billboard 200, presumably due to anticipation for new one, MMLP2.
As we continue to suffer through the #MusicDrought (as one HNHH commenter put it), we once again bring you weekly jams that stood out from the mainstream ish we hear all the time. There's some variety on this week's list, from simple instrumentals, to chilled out strip club music, to ignorant bangers. A little something for everyone to vibe too.
We see two new entries when it comes to hip-hop on Charts Don't Lie this week. They belong to Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt and A$AP Mob's A$AP Ferg. While both rappers moved respectable amounts, it gives us a moment to think about the whole ideas of crews in hip-hop, and how no matter what, there is always one rap leader who has to make an impression on the audience first.
Last week we saw PARTYNEXTDOOR make a relatively strong debut on the Billboard 200, however he has not maintained his ranking this week, having fallen below Billboard's top 100. We've got one new entry this week, coming from the underground crew signed to Tech N9ne's Strange Music, Ces Cru. They were able to sell just over 6k, making a debut at #40.
HNHH continues to tackle the issue of sales in the hip-hop world. This week we had two new-comers top the charts, as well as an old head make an appearance. While Macklemore & Ryan Lewis perform the best this week, it's becoming more and more obvious that major labels may slowly be heading the way of the tall T, as independent labels manage to do it just as big. Not
This week we see one new entry below, belonging to October's Very Own's PARTYNEXTDOOR. The r'n'b singer is relatively new, having released his first official mixtape PARTYNEXTDOOR just last summer. Nonetheless, he's already developed quite the loyal following, undoubtedly due (in part) to his affiliation with Drizzy.
Shaquille O’Neal has dabbled in law enforcement since before his retirement, and was always clear that he wanted to become an actual cop some day. Now after serving as a reserve cop on Miami Beach, Diesel was sworn in as a police officer for the small town of Golden Beach. With only a population of approximately 919 people, Officer O’Neal will mostly be working a speed-trap handing out tick
Underrated Audio aims to provide you with some dope looks from the last seven days, that flew under most peoples' radars. While they may have received front-page placement on HNHH, they didn't get as many views as they deserve, so we shine a little more light on them right here.
