Giving you the direct perspective from Joe Budden and A6, "In The Cut" is an HNHH series that highlights a specific cut by speaking to both the artist and producer about the song's creation.
This is a pretty eventful Charts Don't Lie, as we were not only anticipating first week sales for the likes of Eminem, Rick Ross, Beyonce and Iggy Azalea, but we're now seeing the streaming initiative from Billboard in full effect. For those unaware, we'll explain real quick.
This week we find the master of all parodies, Weird Al Yankovic, take over Billboard's #1 spot with his new album Mandatory Fun. There's not much new on here in the way of r'n'b and rap, as we await the debut numbers for Common's new release, Nobody's Smiling.
This week on the charts we see a new entry with Top Dawg's lady SZA, who made a strong debut considering it's her first release on the label/first release for sale. Similar to Isaiah Rashad's Cilvia Demo, which debuted at #40, SZA's Z debuted at #39 by moving 7,000 units.
Underrated Audio aims to provide you with some dope looks from the last seven days that flew under most peoples' radars. While they may have received front-page placement on HNHH, they didn't get as many views as they deserve, so we shine a little more light on them right here.
Coincidence or competition? One-time couple Jennifer Lopez and Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs have both recently been involved in struggles to obtain the rights to cable music channel Fuse TV. Now it appears as if J. Lo's NuvoTV has beaten out Combs' Revolt TV in a bidding war to acquire the network.
This week the hip-hop underground proves you don't need to be mainstream to top the Billboard 200, at least these days. Two mainstays within the underground movement debuted within the top 10 of the Billboard charts this week.
This week proved to be a big one for hip-hop music, with Joey Bada$$ and Lupe Fiasco dropping their respective albums on the same day (January 20th), not to mention, free projects from Trinidad James, Lil Wayne, Yo Gotti and K Camp. While the latter projects won't be charting on the Billboard 200, both Joey and Lupe are expected to impact shortly.
This past week we did receive quite a few massive hip-hop records, including a new banger from the Young Money crew, a massive remix of YG's "My Nigga," and a stand-out ScHoolboy Q record "Break The Bank," among other Very Hotttt releases.
Take a look at our gallery of the biggest music video directors in the game, accompanied by some of the iconic visuals for artists like Rick Ross, Tyga, Lil Wayne, Tupac, Drake and more.
The month of April is already wrapping up, even though it seems like it just arrived. We celebrated 4/20 over the weekend, which saw an influx of weed-smoking songs on the site, as expected. Nonetheless, we like think that you can make every day a 4/20, especially when you have the right music. This week UA has four perfect tracks to do so.
This past week the Drake frenzy surrounding Nothing Was The Same came to a peak when the actual first week sales were released. The rapper's album had the best opening week of this year second to Justin Timberlake's come back effort-- he even topped Jay Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail first week sales.
This week we see Ne-Yo make his grand entrance on the Billboard 200 with Non-Fiction, and we're also analyzing Lupe Fiasco and Joey Bada$$ in their second week out. As we saw last week, Joey Bad started off strong with a #5 debut, much higher than Lupe's Tetsuo & Youth. However was that just hype for his first week out?
Tech N9ne Says He Wants To Work With Eminem & Get Beats From Kanye West Nov 14, 2013 at 04:22pm 15,123 Views
We recently heard Tech N9ne go crazy (and spit super fast) on Hopsin's "Rip Your Heart Out," which is just one of several collaborations the two rappers have done together. The same day "Rip Your Heart Out" dropped, we hit up DJ Skee's Skee Live show and got to talk to Tech about his music and who else he'd like to work with in the rap game.
Atlanta, Georgia. The city bursting with waffle houses and strip clubs also happens to be one of today’s hip-hop capitals. Trap music has skyrocketed over the past couple years, ATL being its home. Twenty years ago, however, there was a much different picture in the A. The Dirty South was simply trying to garner recognition while the East and West Coasts shared a stranglehold on the rap scene.
This week we bring to you only four cuts that fit the title. Although it seems like more and more music is dropping as we enter the summer months, not every thing is a stand out. These songs didn't necessarily get a lot of love from our viewers, so here we are giving them the second go-round in Underrated Audio.
John Wall's Teammate Doesn't Want To See Him "Butt Naked" In Magazine Jul 14, 2013 at 05:14pm 1 View
John Wall and Kenneth Faried shed their uniforms for ESPN Magazine’s “The Body” issue as both players posed for ‘tastefully’ nude photos. The issue is supposed to help bring awareness to the body, and make people feel more comfortable with who they are. One person who was uncomfortable with Wall’s poses was teammate Martell Webster. When asked by a member of the Washington Post
As November fast approaches, we're all getting excited to hear Eminem's come-back (we hope) on MMLPII on November 5th. However, October 15th was also an important day for hip-hop, with three of the most dope and underrated emcees all dropping records: Boldy James, Dom Kennedy, and Black Milk.

Today Hot 97 is announcing the line-up for their upcoming annual Summer Jam event. Check out the live stream announcement below to find out which artists have been tapped for the main stage. We've already heard who will be on the Festival Village Stage (which, ahem, is sponsored by us!) -- Joey Bada$$, A$AP Ferg, Action Bronson, Troy Ave, Smoke DZA, and Kid Ink.
French Montana joins Charts Don't Lie this week, with his debut album Excuse My French. French, Diddy and the whole Bad Boy team went hard with promo for this one, rounded up the biggest features in the game, but the album wasn't able to move more than 50k opening week.
Although it is the holidays, rappers never stop putting in work. Rappers love to release shit on holidays specifically, and this year was no different. Quite a few artists came through with big records in the spirit of Xmas, but there were also some smaller gems which we're shining light on in Underrated Audio. Have a look through to see what you may have missed in the past seven days.
There were a lot of huge records that dropped this past week (two, at least, which Meek Mill & Drake were a part of), anyways, while I'm sure most people checked out those, here's some that might have been neglected. Brother Ali- Not A Day Goes By (Prod. Jake One) Brother Ali is not one of those artists who lets go a song a day, so when he does put out music I pay
This week we see Tyga make an entry onto the charts, while Tyler, the Creator, whose album dropped last week, fell quite a bit from his impressive #3 debut. Tyga's Hotel California is definitely a venture into the more typical sound that has defined Tyler's career, with plenty of DJ Mustard-esque beats and the accompanying flow.
We got quite a few new mixtapes this week, including one really big one from Dizzy Wright, The Golden Age.
We're in mid-November now and it's almost Thanksgiving for all our U.S. residents, so we know everyone's gunna be eating some good and get pretty lazy (aka full) afterwards. Here's some tracks to pass the time during your Thanksgiving dinner. Play them for your parents, grandparents, cousins, siblings, neighbours etc..whoever is at your dinner table! 'Cause who doesn't
