Like most mother’s, Kobe Bryant’s mom was tired of holding onto all of her kid’s old stuff long after he had moved out. Pam Bryant decided she wanted to sell some of Kobe’s things at auction and see if she can get some money for them.
John Wall's Teammate Doesn't Want To See Him "Butt Naked" In Magazine Jul 14, 2013 at 05:14pm 21 Views
John Wall and Kenneth Faried shed their uniforms for ESPN Magazine’s “The Body” issue as both players posed for ‘tastefully’ nude photos. The issue is supposed to help bring awareness to the body, and make people feel more comfortable with who they are. One person who was uncomfortable with Wall’s poses was teammate Martell Webster. When asked by a member of the Washington Post
Soon Jay-Z is going to be on the charts, undoubtedly dominating the top spot, which belonged to J. Cole this week. Jay-Z's new album has made waves not only for it's creative rollout but for changing the rules of RIAA, in order to ensure the album went platinum before it even dropped, unlike our other chart-toppers this week, who are working their way to platinum the old-fashioned way.
Jay-Z basically dominated the web this past week with the release of Magna Carta Holy Grail and all the interviews and promo that followed.
Clearly there’s some bad blood between Dwyane Wade and his ex-wife, Siovaughn Funches-Wade, as she had filed a lawsuit for a million dollars but has no “voluntarily dismissed” the case. The lawsuit had claimed that the two signed a contract back in 2006 that certain endorsement money would be placed in a joint account where Funches-Wade could access it, but that Dwyane had voluntarily bee
Baron Davis was one of the most talented players in throughout the first decade of the 2000s, and as versatile as he was as a guard he has dabbled in various artistic fields such as movies, music, and fashion, so it’s safe to say he is an open-minded person. While on a podcast for comedians Neal Brennan (co-creator of Chappelle Show) and Moshe Kasher, the West Coast point guard told a story how
Scottie Pippen was involved in a short altercation outside Nobu, a restaurant in Malibu, that ended up with Pip punching a man, and said man crumbling to the ground and being knocked out. Now that man is suing the Hall Of Fame forward for $4 million.Police are still investigating the incident, but they had interviewed Pippen, and witnesses had said the man was intoxicated and was berating the
Talking To Ty Dolla $ign & Buddah Shampoo On "Ratchet In My Benz" Jul 11, 2013 at 01:51pm 3,613 Views
Ty Dolla $ign has been on the come-up for awhile, and although he still is on his way up, he's definitely started carving out his own lane within the rap/r'n'b game. The West Coast native has been steadily dropping mixtapes, since 2011's House On The Hill, to his most recent, Beach House 2.
This week on Charts Don't Lie we have one new entry, and that's Wale with The Gifted. Wale is an interesting rapper to consider, because there's no denying people love to hate on him. We saw this with the resurgence of old tweets from rappers-- one thing they seemed to all have in common was their strong dislike from Mr. Folarin.
With the 4th of July having happened this past week, and people still celebrating this weekend, the blogging has been toned down the past few days. However, at the beginning of the week, we saw notable mixtape releases from Ty Dolla $ign, PartyNextDoor and Joey Bada$$.
We now have the numbers for what was a monumental week in rap history, with Kanye West, J. Cole and Mac Miller all dropping their respective albums on June 18th. And Kelly Rowland.
This week we keep it short and sweet for y'all. We've got four cuts from upstarts in music, who all deliver vastly different sounds, from the indie-kinda-rap OnCue spits, to the r'n'b ish JMSN delivers, to the '90s sounding rap from Dillon Cooper. We also threw in a cut from Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks.
Of the dozens of rappers debated as the G.O.A.T dead or alive, Nas's name probably comes up with the most frequency behind The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac (maybe ahead depending on the source).
Boldy James is not your average drug-talking and dealing rapper. It shows in his musical output, from his above par beat selection, to his descriptive and almost eloquent rhymes, Boldy is far from average.
We're still waiting on the exact numbers for what may be the biggest week in hip-hop since 2006 (Kanye West's Yeezus, J. Cole's Born Sinner, Mac Miller's WMWTSO and Kelly Rowland's Talk A Good Game all dropped on the 18th of June), but projections for the sales show that Cole is closer to 'Ye's numbers than we previously thought.
This past week proved to be a big one for hip-hop. Definitely a week to be remembered, with three big rap albums (and one r'n'b album) all dropping on the same day (and every one knows this date by now)-- June 18. While Kanye West, J. Cole and Mac Miller had the spotlight for the majority of the week, that's not to say there weren't some dope releases from other artists.
This week all eyes are Kanye West, J. Cole and Mac Miller. But mainly Kanye West. The three rappers are releasing their respective projects two days from now (Tuesday, June 18th) and we will be watching the sales and the charts to see where each artist lands.
Eminem is one of the biggest things to happen to hip-hop, period. He challenged the status quo and found success as a white artist in a predominantly black industry. Though he was not the first white rapper to blow, Eminem is one of the few to be consistently ranked among the greatest rappers of all time.
Talking To Nipsey Hussle & 9th Wonder On "Face The World" & "TM3" Jun 12, 2013 at 01:46pm 13,216 Views
Although Nipsey Hussle has yet to release a debut album, the West Coast native keeps his fans locked with a steady flow of strong mixtapes. His Marathon series of mixtapes have seen Nipsey grow as an artist and evolve into someone unique in a rap game that is over-saturated with drug-talking and gang-affiliated rappers.
With the hectic-ness that was HOT 97's Summer Jam UA was missing from the site last week. Nonetheless, today we return in full force looking back at tracks that were posted within the past fourteen days instead of seven, because as usual, more than a few dope cuts have gone overlooked. From the still-slept-on song-maker The-Dream, to rising New York rapper Mr.
This week r'n'b singer and hit-maker extraordinaire, The-Dream, enters the charts with his latest effort, IV Play. The-Dream is an interesting artist to analyze, because while he creates hits on top of hits for tons artists in the game, his own fan-base is much smaller, yet extremely devout to the singer.
French Montana joins Charts Don't Lie this week, with his debut album Excuse My French. French, Diddy and the whole Bad Boy team went hard with promo for this one, rounded up the biggest features in the game, but the album wasn't able to move more than 50k opening week.
This week's Underrated Audio will put you on to five cuts from rising artists all of sorts.
For now, rap releases have slowed down, but new ones are on the way. The month of June promises to be one full of album drops-- which all fall under a few different dates. The biggest date by far, is, of course, June 18th. The date which 'Ye tweeted a month ago is (unsurprisingly?) turning out to be a huge one in terms of hip-hop.
