HNHH's "Underrated Audio" puts you on not-too-mainstream music you might have missed from the past week.
2013 saw many breakout stars. From Chance The Rapper, to Jhene Aiko, to Rich Homie Quan, it was more difficult than ever to predict who would rise to fame at any given moment. 2014 will likely be no different, but we've organized a few artists who could very well have big breaks this year. Some are more visible than others, but all of them have the potential to make a splash in the rap game.
Twizz Customs is the mastermind behind the Nike LeBron X "Ghostbuster." The unique custom features all things Ghostbuster, including; a khaki upper reminiscent of the Ghostbuster uniform, a caution taped Nike swoosh, Slimer's green remains strewn throughout, and a Ghostbuster logo at the ankle collar. What's the verdict; Cop or Not?
Kid Ink may have suddenly rose to popularity with the 2012 catchy hit “Time of Your Life” but the California rapper has been at it longer than that. Releasing his first mixtape in 2010, Kid Ink, real name Brian Collins, gained a slew of fans with his laid-back style and blend of singing and rapping.
There aren't very many changes in this week's Charts Don't Lie compared to last week. The main list of artists has remained the same, as we have yet to receive any new rap or r'n'b debuts on the Billboard 200, although Kid Ink's debut album My Own Lane will begin charting in the near future. Ink's RCA album is projected to move a solid 40-45k, which will land him within the top 3.
We're offering you a chance to grab the records that flew under the radar these last seven days with the weekly Underrated Audio. We scope out the records that received less views than they deserved, and give them a few more looks here. This week we round up tracks from rising rapper Da$h, Cleveland/LA native King Chip, a newcomer Nile Ross and more.
Record labels, Ciroc, "Revolt" internet channel, Diddy is making money hand over fist. That includes hustling dice games in Taxi Jordan 12s. Diddy posted this shot on Instagram after apparently winning a game of dice. #kicksoftheDay! So Harlem! Celo BIG BANK Take lil bank
The "Toro" Air Jordan 6 is scheduled to release on February 15th, the same day as the "White/Infrared" 6. 2014 marks the 23rd anniversary of the Air Jordan 6, so its reasonable to believe there will be a ton of Air Jordan 6releases.
There are plenty of rap magazines that have gone and went through out hip-hop's 40 years, but there are also several mainstays in the culture. Magazines like Rap Sheet and The Source were some of the first to ever do it, starting out as simple newsletters and developing into something much more. While the former has been defunct, The Source (which launched in 1988) is still kickin'.
The inspiration rappers have drawn from comic book characters over the years is undeniable, whether it be superheroes, villains or relatively normal protagonists who happen to find themselves in extraordinary circumstances.
The Air Jordan "Olympic Pack" features the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 6. Both sneakers feature removable flag decals and USA colorways. Included in the pack, wooden shoe trees, white Olympic dust bags, a USA Olympic Basketball themed Nike Destroyer jacket, and a hat bearing the flag.
Dissecting the foibles of the hip hop community as expressed in under 140 characters on Twitter. Not just used as a device to flood people's timelines with your new track, album, video, or clothing line, sometimes rappers truly channel the unfiltered interaction with fans. This week features Tyler, The Creator, Danny Brown, Chief Keef and more!
This feature highlights a hand-picked selection of some of the bigger tracks of the week. We have chosen a few of the tracks that landed within our top 25 most played, focusing on those that stood out, and left room for discussion.
Next up on the Air Jordan "Element" series is the Air Jordan 5Lab3. The reflective 3M tongue that has become synonymous with multiple Air Jordan 5 releases, takes on the entirety of this Air Jordan 3.
LeBron took to instagram to show off his Drake inspired sweatshirt, but also gave us a glimpse of an unreleased "Volt Dunkman" Nike LeBron 9 Elite. Whether this was done intentionally or not, the sneaker community is marveling over the electric kicks. The sneakers were limited to samples and "friends and family" pairs, which add to their lure and exclusivity.
We've officially wrapped up a big year for the genre we all love-- new albums from Jay Z, Kanye West, Pusha T, Mac Miller, Drake, Juicy J (and the list goes on), only made 2013 that much sweeter. Mix in a new-found competition brought on by, you guessed it, "Control," and all the free mixtapes we've received in 2013, and this past year was definitely a good one.
With the holiday season winding down, we're still seeing the affect it had on the charts and the sales. It seems like almost everyone on today's Charts round-up had an increase in sales and a rise up the Billboard 200 in the past seven days except for B.o.B.
New Years Eve celebrations went down just a few days ago, so this weekend you may still be recovering from all your mid-week partying. While you do that, you can take a look at the four chill cuts sitting in Underrated Audio this week. No records too turned up this weekend. From a little-known Arkansas rap group to Sean Price, here are four pieces of audio we're giving a second look.
The White/Infrared Air Jordan 6 is scheduled to drop on February 15th. That doesn't apply to Macklemore though. The avid sneakerhead was seen chilling at the airport rocking the always clean Infrared 6s. One of the most anticipated releases of this young year, so get prepared for a bevy of celebrities displaying their early pick-up.
Keeping Gucci Mane out of the headlines is no easy task. Once again he’s back, although this time with the release of his digital album The State Vs. Radric Davis II: The Caged Bird Sings. While the rapper is surrounded by mounting legal problems, he's nonetheless found the time to keep his fans fed with this Christmas day release.
The Air Jordan 4 "Chicago Blackhawks" are a private order done by none other than Mache. As you can tell, the celebratory sneakers uses the "Toro" Air Jordan 4 as the base.
In November, Atlanta rapper Trinidad James caused a firestorm with comments he made while performing in Brooklyn, New York City. After multiple rappers (most notably Maino) called him out for stating that ATL rappers run NYC musically, the Def Jam signee finally admitted he chose the wrong venue.
As we continue to recover from New Year's Eve festivities, memories from the evening are slowly coming back to us.
Red October, gamma blue, elephant print, camo print; you get the idea. 2013 was filled with a ton of polarizing colorways and designs that even had the celebrities itching to get a pair.
We at HotNewHipHop are quite aware of our user community, which is very unique in and of itself. If you're on HNHH every day, you get used to seeing certain users all up in the comments, blasting their opinion or inciting arguments.
