Lil Wayne and Mannie Fresh have a rich collaborative history, but Cash Money drama meant they were separated for years. Now that Weezy has turned his back on Birdman, he and Mannie are on great terms once again, and on top of working on a few collaborative tracks over the last year or two, they're apparently in the midst of doing something completely different for them.
Play of production duo Play-N-Skillz dropped a hint about the project in an interview with SOHH, suggesting that Mannie had approached him at an event about working together. "He was like, 'yo, I've got this project I'm doing with Lil Wayne, this EDM thing. I've got these vocals, I wanna do it with you guys," recalled Play, who said the producers later got together in the studio.
The interview does seem quite vague, and it's difficult to tell whether Play is discussing a full-length project or simply a single collaboration. Either way, you can expect some new EDM-leaning music from Wayne and Mannie Fresh soon. Watch the interview below.
