Even though #PeachButtGate became the focus of attention during Apple’s beta testing for new emojis, there are far more changes than that in the new emoji release that just went live for all iOS users. There were a ton of changes, which we’ll try to outline here.
In total, 104 new emojis were added to the base collection, but pretty much every single existing emoji was also updated. Highlights among the new emojis are a much needed facepalm, a handshake and a fingers crossed emoji. There are also a plethora of new animals, most importantly a gorilla which people on the internet have already claimed as Harambe.
