Either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump (or maybe a third party candidate?) will be inheriting President Barack Obama's 11 million Twitter followers.

When you leave the White House, apparently you've gotta leave your Twitter followers at the door. Although Barack Obama has only had his Twitter handle @POTUS since 2015, he'll already be giving it up on January 20, 2017 when a new president is sworn in, and with that Twitter handle comes 11 million precious followers. According to a post on the White House blog, all of Obama's tweets as @POTUS will be transferred over to an account titled @POTUS44, and the tweets on @POTUS will be wiped clean.

The same transfer of Twitter followers will be happening for @WhiteHouse, @FLOTUS, @PressSec, and @VP. In the case of @FLOTUS, Michelle Obama's current handle, there's a chance that the account will be changing names to @FGOTUS (First Gentleman of the United States) if Hillary Clinton is elected president. Brace yourself for @FGOTUS sliding into your DM's, once Bill's got the password for that one.

The presidential election is on November 8, one week from today.
