Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning film is being turned into a crime drama series.

The Amazon streaming service has announced that they're turning Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning film, "The Departed" into a crime drama series.

However, instead of focusing the show on an undercover cop infiltrating the Irish mob in Boston, the Amazon reboot will feature a young cop going undercover in a Latino gang in present-day Chicago. Just like The Departed, the gang will also have their own man on the inside of the police force.

"The Departed" tv series is still in its infant stage so the cast has not yet been confirmed but we do know that the creator of Detroit 1-8-7, Jason Richman, will be writing the series.

Vertigo Entertainment, Initial Entertainment Group and Plan B Entertainment, all of whom produced the 2006 movie, will also be producing the series alongside Amazon Studios.
