Musically-speaking, "Need A Best Friend" works on so many levels. Lil Quee "plays the block like Tetris" on a chorus custom-made to fit A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's personal style. But it's Quando Rondo who really steals the show with a straightforward yet imagistic verse. His pronouncement of an "I Love You" in the final moments of the song speaks to the nagging sense of guilt we've all felt at some of our "romantic lives." If the beat sounds eerily similar to something NBA Youngboy would normally rap over, that's because Kenny Beats is behind the decks on this one, capping off an impressive 2018 for all those concerned.
