In the wake of landing his first number one album in Hoodie SZN, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie spoke to TMZ about the accomplishment. Declaring himself the current ruler of New York, Boogie reveals that he celebrated the momentous occasion by buying his mother a crib. "I bought my brother a truck, my pops a truck, my moms a crib, a lot of fly shit, I got this big-ass chain for Bubba," he laughs. When asked about Billboard's claims that Hoodie SZN was the lowest selling album to hit number one, Boogie could only laugh, citing the winds of change. "Streaming rules!" he confidently states, upon hearing the "eighty-million" statistic recited back to him.
"Streaming took over sales," he declares. "Anybody that's in this era now is always going to do more streaming than sales. When I look at it, like, man, fuck sales. We ain't even got no CDs out." He proceeds to dole out some advice to aspiring artists, stating "find a path and go with it. Make a plan, don't just copy. A lot of people see a lot of copying going on, just make a plan for real."
He also teases a few future endeavors with the incarcerated Tekashi 6ix9ine, with whom he collaborated on "Swervin." "We got a whole new song coming right now," he says. "Stay tuned." Sadly, Boogie had yet to hear word from the jailed Rainbow Wonder, but promises to go visit him in the near future.
