When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Today, sampling has become less common, but a choice sample can still push a track from lukewarm to hot faster than you can say "uh-huh honey".
Wale Parts Ways With Roc Nation

With Wale attracting lots of #UNOTMMG hate in the wake of Meek Mill's comments about him a few months ago, it appears the DMV rapper has been ousted from another club: Roc Nation. Signed to Jay Z's management company since 2009, Mr. Folarin left after his manager, Rich Kleiman, decided to focus on the company's relatively new sports department.

The other week things seemed precarious within Maybach Music Group, as Meek Mill publicly outed Wale for what he saw as a lack of support on his upcoming LP Dreams Worth More Than Money. Of course, Wale had his own side of the story to share, which he did via Instagram later that same day.

There could be tensions rising within the Maybach Music Group if Meek Mill's recent tweets are any indication. As we reported yesterday, the MMG rapper announced a release date for his forthcoming album Dreams Worth More Than Money. He was heavily promoting it on Twitter, and undoubtedly some of his MMG counterparts followed suit-- except one. Wale.

Thanks to Instagram, we get an inside look at the daily lives of all our favorite rappers, and often times, 'daily life' involves going to the studio at some time or another. A lot of rappers are night owls and thus hit the studio late at night until the wee hours of the morning.
10 Rappers Who Switched Their Style Up

Superman isn't Superman if he inexplicably switches from superpowered do-gooder, to some sort of motorcycle-riding anti-hero, to maniacal villain, and back and forth between the extremes. Such mythology is a big part of the hip-hop culture, as well as proper marketing. Any marketing novice and comic book savant knows that consistency is key to building one's image/brand. A rapper who constantly switches up can lose a fan base or market, or even worse: he or she gets labeled as a fake for wearing different styles (there's nothing worse than not being real).

Wale recently made headlines for an altercation he had with a Twitter troll, who he approached IRL at a WWE match this weekend, leading to a bit of a scuffle. While he's still having a tough time controlling his temper, the DC has still found time to work steadily on his 4th official project, The Album About Nothing.

Wale can not seem to hold back from responding to his haters. While attending a WWE event in Washington yesterday, the MMG rapper was taunted on Twitter by a user claiming to be in the same building, and it wasn't long before the rapper sought him out. Some grainy footage of the altercation shows a bit of a scuffle, before Wale was pulled away. You can watch the footage, and read their full Twitter exchange here.
