Virginia hip hop artist Vonte Raekwon was born Lavonte Raekwon Webb on the 5th of August 1995 and shares the same birthday as his great-great-grandfather the internationally renowned Blues singer and songwriter Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup. The second oldest of seven children, Vonte is a leader in the eyes of his six sisters and his entire family. He began writing at a very young age as an outlet when his parents moved the family from Hampton, VA to Memphis, TN in 2004 and has never been too far from his pen and pad. In Memphis Vonte often visited the historic Beale Street with his parents and began to better understand and appreciate Hip Hops origins and how it relates to Rhythm and Blues. He studied more about his pop Crudup and developed a deep appreciation for his music and all that Crudup underwent during his musical career. Because of their birth connection and both their love for music, Vonte Raekwon contends that “Legends Never Die” and is making it a point to prove it to the world.
Vonte returned to Virginia in 2007 and while most of the verses that he wrote over the years were kept just between him and the lines, in his 18th year the fire could be contained no more. Re-born in the summer of 2013 Vonte is drawing fast attention from his first 3 Singles “Déjà vu”, “Last Flight to Thug Mansion” and “New Rules for the New School”. After listening to Vonte Raekwon's music, his flow and his lyrical content, it does not take long to realize that he is the next heavy weight champion in this game we call Hip Hop. With a following from the East Coast to the West Coast, anticipation rises daily as to when he'll drop his next bar. Hungry to elevate to the next chapter in his life, he battles within himself to beat his own best. With the upcoming release of his mixtape in January 2014 he looks forward to finally having his voice heard in the universe.
