UNIQUE DA ARTIST When listening to Unique spit a rhyme, it’s hard to believe he’s only 16 years old. Hailing from the streets of East New York, his reprieve brings a fresh approach to the saturated tunes of fast cars, women and crime, allowing the listener to become nostalgic, remembering a time when meeting a first love or losing one held more weight on the heart than fast money – but that doesn’t mean Unique isn’t striving for success. Starting out as a singer in his local church’s choir at just 6 years old, the performing bug caught him early. Adding onto his talents, he began dancing at the age of 12, performing in street dance competitions, and penned his first rhyme at the age of 14 under the guidance of Rich Hertz, who’s worked with underground artists such as Cocoa Sarai. He released his first EP “Pardon My Back” in the Winter of 2011, and is now gearing up to release his second EP, “Believe It Or Not” in the Fall of 2012. Unique sites an eclectic array of artists within his influences, including Wiz Khaifah, J. Cole, R. Kelly and Kanye West, amongst others. Knowing that behind every great artist there’s a great DJ, Unique has teamed up with DJ Zeke (Maybach Music Group, Kendrick Lamar, Gym Class Heroes) and looks forward to future collaborations under his tutelage. As he begins to build relationships within the music industry, he continues to hold fast to the idea of ambition, while sending a message to his peers that through hard work and positivity, anyone can have success as an entrepreneur. Under his company Young and Paid Empire, he looks forward to producing music for the masses, encouraging others to pursue their dreams and turn them into reality.
