J Cole, Trey Songz Perform In Colin Kaepernick Jerseys
Colin Kaepernick's protest o the national anthem has garnered plenty of attention. It has earned Kaepernick ardent haters and supporters alike. President Obama articulated his support of Kaepernick's right to protest. Over the weekend, Trey Songz and J Cole showed support by rocking Kaepernick jerseys (now the best-selling NFL jersey on the market) at their respective performances over the weekend.

The week before Labor Day brought us some nice late summer treats in the form of Travis Scott's Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight, Isaiah Rashad's The Sun's Tirade, and Fabolous' Summertime Shootout 2. Of those, Scott's album was definitely the most feverishly anticipated, thanks to some delays as well as his substantial fanbase, and that popularity shows in this week's edition of Top Tracks. Scott leads the pack with three appearances, but oddly enough, none as a lead artist.
J. Cole Earns Two More Platinum Singles
J. Cole hasn't put out much of anything since 2014 Forest Hills Drive, released in late 2014, though he continues to rack up the platinum plaques. The album was declared platinum about a year ago, and two of its tracks, "No Role Modelz" and "Wet Dreamz" have both received the same certification within the past few months. Yesterday, Roc Nation announced that two more of Cole's singles have officially gone platinum, though neither of the songs are from 2014 Forest Hills Drive.
Rick Ross' "Port of Miami" & Trey Songz' "Passion, Pain, & Pleasure" Certified Platinum
It took 10 years, but Rick Ross' debut album Port of Miami has finally been certified platinum by the RIAA.
Khloe Kardashian & Trey Songz Reportedly "Seen Making Out"
Khloe Kardashian is a single, independent lady, and with that power comes the pleasure of doing whatever the fuck she wants. Since her split from Lamar Odom (from whom she filed for a divorce for the second time this past May), she's been spotted with many a man, be it athlete or hip-hop artist (there doesn't seem to be much of a chance for anyone outside of those two careers).

Happy Memorial Day. The past week has been a wild one, what with the chaos at T.I.’s NYC show, Gucci Mane’s release from prison, and a new Kevin Gates tape. Summer’s officially here, so expect things to keep picking up in the rap game— we’ve got a ScHoolboy Q album, SremmLife 2, and a bunch of other heat on the way. On the top tracks side of things, there was quite a bit of turnover in our list this week, with only the bottom and top tracks from the last edition making return appearances.
20 Hip Hop Artists Who Threw Out The Ceremonial First Pitch
The pitcher's mound is a stage, a very different stage from the one rappers and singers are accustomed to standing upon. The ceremonial first pitch is ostensibly a celebration, and throwing the ball 60 feet in a particular direction may not seem like much of a challenge. But much can go wrong. From Kendrick Lamar to Snoop Dogg to MC Hammer to 50 Cent (!), here are 20 hip hop artists who took the mound for the ceremonial first pitch.
The 10 Best R&B/Rap Covers Of Classic Songs
Searching "rap covers" online is like walking into a minefield of acoustic guitars and webcams, leftovers from a war that began with Ben Folds' famous version of Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't Shit." An earnest-sounding white dude with a guitar and an angelic backing choir singing things like "Lick on these nuts and suck the dick" was (believe it or not) novel at some point, but now that approach has been beaten to death. Last year, for example, a ten year old covered "Trap Queen."

Another week, and the rap game ain't slowing down. TDE proved its youngest member is one of its most prized assets, Tyga finally dropped his mixtape, Mike Will seriously upped the expectations for Ransom 2, and a random Thugger leak managed to crack the Top 5. And that was before the weekend...

With Thanksgiving behind us, there's the remaining hours of Black Friday as well as the impending Cyber Monday to slowly (or quickly) transition you into the holiday scene. Over the past day or two you've probably noticed the influx of mixtapes, which we realize, mean you have a ton of new music to keep you busy over the weekend, and hopefully longer than just a weekend.
Trey Songz Pays The IRS $750,000 In Back Taxes

LyriQuiz: Drake Feat. Trey Songz - "Replacement Girl"
In 2007, Drake dropped "Replacement Girl" on his Comeback Season mixtape. The track was arguably his first introduction to (somewhat) mainstream hip-hop media-- it didn't exactly cause him to blow up, but it become one of his more well-known records, even to this day. It even featured a young Trey Songz, who at the time was similarly unknown. It's hard to believe, but it's actually been eight years since "Replacement Girl" dropped. In the spirit of Throwback Thursday, we're testing your knowledge on some of Drake's earlier lyrics.

Summer Jam 2015 Recap
Summer's here, and festival season has arrived. Unfortunately, for hip-hop heads, most of the summer's premier music destinations are filled with laptop DJs or bands that introduced your parents to LSD 40 years ago. Luckily, for all of us on the East Coast, there's Summer Jam. Though it's just one day, the HOT 97-curated concert features over 10 hours of straight hip-hop in Giants' stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
140 Bars: Tweets Of The Week (May 16 - 22)
After a big first quarter, May has been kind of a slump month for releases, as there's tons of noteworthy projects planned for this summer, but the last few weeks have mostly been dominated by singles, videos and news. However, we did get great new tapes from Gucci Mane, Fredo Santana, King Louie and Remy Banks this week, some crazy visuals from A$AP Rocky and some big singles from 50 Cent and Gunplay.
