The Billboard 200 Chart shifted considerably over the past week, leaving artists like Tank in the dust as the likes of Rihanna and Kevin Gates rose to take the #1 and #2 positions, respectively. Rihanna's album, which debuted at #27 last week, claimed the #1 position we all expected it to have. The reasoning for the weak debut was on a technicality, but now that the album is properly available, it moved nearly 125,000 units.

In case you missed it, the RIAA updated their formula for calculating Gold and Platinum Album certifications yesterday. While it helped a few artist reach Platinum, today we see if it has shaken up the charts in any significant way. We’re now counting the total combined streams, single and album sales as “total album equivalent units” (TAEU, for short), as driven by changes to Billboard’s new rating system.

This week, we saw the debut of Lecrae, an artist who -- with the Christian rap audience behind him -- managed to score a #1 debut with his last project, Anomaly. Rather than a proper follow-up to that album, Church Clothes 3 is a continuation of his popular mixtape series, and therefor places at 12 this week, a pretty admirable showing considering.

Since it's still pretty early in the year, we haven't had any big releases just yet, but that doesn't mean rap and R&B aren't selling a whole lot. This week, The Weeknd has moved back into the top 5 releases, while Bryson Tiller has hit his highest peak yet, proving his audience is growing each week. In other sales news, the RIAA has finally certified J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive album platinum.

2016 is looking like it's gonna be a fast year. Yeezy decided to become the year's frontrunner after jumping over Jumpman on New Year's Eve, and somehow, he outdid himself the next week, dropping a two-in-one package that had one of the craziest debuts in HNHH history -- and continues to do huge numbers.

Things were just beginning to slow down, as we had spent enough time arguing over the year's best music with a series of year-end lists and were ready to start thinking about what's in store for 2016. It's holiday season, and that means it's time to start rolling out the year-end lists. There was almost too much good music to handle, as notable releases week after week meant that only the hottest tracks were able to attain a shelf-life of longer than a couple of months.

Travi$ Scott & The Weekend Performed "Antidote" Together In Houston Last Night
Travi$ Scott & The Weekend Performed "Antidote" Together In Houston Last Night Dec 14, 2015 at 12:58pm
The Weeknd's "Beauty Behind the Madness" tour is currently making its way around the country. Last night the tour stopped in Houston, hometown of opening act Travi$ Scott. La Flame had a treat in store for his hometown faithful, inviting The Weeknd to join him on stage for "Antidote," as well as "Pray For Love." We're not used to hearing The Weeknd perform with auto-tune, but he busts it out for his bro Travis, and it arguably sounds cooler than his actual singing voice. The crowd is particularly lit, even for a La Flame show.
