There have been legends to rise up from New York City that have been the architects that showed us how to make, embrace, breath and live Hip-Hop. There's only one, from the streets of The Borough of Queens that can match the intensity of a Tsunami with a verbal assault over a mic, Queens emcee EXTRA. Admittedly… he’s confident, unwavering and ready to put the rap industry in a choke hold metaphorically. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens he desires to leave a different perspective of his city for many. Born Raphael Morris to Panamanian parents, early years in Queens at home was nothing unusual. In high school, he was known for his quick lyrics and freestyles from beats made on the lunchroom table. Not prewritten material that could be added to any beats, but he has the skills to create history in the matter of seconds to any beat presented to him. During his high school years Extra was in a group called "Team Flawless" where they dropped a mixtape called "Flawless Victory" . At the age of 14 he knew music was his life. "Music is the eyes, heart and soul of those who cannot see" says EXTRA. "Music of all genres has the ability to turn any situation around. Lol, I'm a 80's baby! Old School Hip Hop created me. Music is a form of escape, it allows me to step outside and focus. I remember the feeling I would get when watching my uncle and god father whom were with the group "UTFO" perform. I remember hearing Roxanne Roxanne come thru my boom box or Yo' MTV Jams. My favorite of many would have to be "Ain't No Half Steppin" by Big Daddy Kane. In 2007, my oldest brother (whom passed a month after giving me the name) started calling me EXTRA, but I think I was EXTRA long before that. I remember when I first touched the stage, it was an 11th grade talent show. To me I as at Madison Square Garden" EXTRA knows reaching his goal of being part of the major labels is definitely not going to happen overnight! “You gotta put the work in. knock on doors. wait at back and front doors, until someone answers. I know I’m fighting a long hard battle within to stay true to who I am as a emcee and getting the attention of the A&R’s.” With his newest single New York, New York which received 1328 downloads in 23 minutes. This single alone has built a buzz and caught alot of attention, that EXTRA is going to work hard and push from a buzz to a tornado.
