In today’s hip hop industry, many people argue that the descending trend in music is in desperate need of a change. In northern Ohio, a rap duo known as, ‘The Heaviweightz’ has begun to change the game while challenging rival artists, and providing talent the music industry has been thirsting for. The Heaviweightz are not considered modern rap, more so in fact they are the future of hip hop. This dynamic duo, whose motto enforces the timeless phrase ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, are more than just typical rookies. From their satirical group name to their true artistic expression, The Heaviweightz are a breath of fresh air to a hip hop generation of materialism and two-step jingles. The Heaviweightz, consisting of Ohio’s own successful independent artist Exile and Rico Relentless, combine adrenaline filled combative lyrics with high energy performances and originality that opposes the puppet-like entertainers of the current hip hop music industry. They are known for their ill ability of combining lyrically fast pace mid-west techniques, with the south’s admired catch lyrics, all the while incorporating melodic and exclusive tones. The Heaviweightz reach many of their fan base through lyrics that creatively range from past experiences, relationships, politics, humanity and the daily struggles that derive from living in a lower class society. With such a wide range of lyrical content, the Heaviweightz create a musical outlet while maintaining the respect of others who deal with the same struggles, or have strong opinions on the same political standpoints. This dynamic duos’ impressive track record includes a catalog of performances for major acts including, Bone Thugs N Harmony, D12, Royce Da 5’9 and Tech N9ne, as well as the ability to captivate fans on Cleveland’s hip hop station 107.9 airwaves. They have created introduction pieces for Cleveland’s own radio DJ’s including DJ Jay Fresh and Eddie Bauer. As their fan base continues to grow, they have acquired local media buzz throughout northern Ohio. To put it simply, to many regional hip hop fans, the Heaviweightz remain Ohio’s best kept secret. Due to Cleveland’s slow capacity to discover local talent, the Heaviweightz have been actively seeking solicitation in booking, management, distribution and demo submission while consistently creating and reinventing their music, the Weightz continue to take their performances and abilities to the next level. The Heaviweightz, while already marketable, remain eager to unleash a unique and rare combination of talent, dedication, education, and self motivation, fuelled with an impressive work ethic. They are currently touring with Highland Music Group, as well as promoting their new single “Hundred Dollar Bills”. The Heaviweightz are currently perfecting their third debut discography which will introduce a style of artistic satire, relating and created specifically to be the unheard voice for the ever expanding lower class. The first E.P. titled “Against All Odds” is a red themed album which captures and introduces the listeners with the Heaviweightz raw talent to relate to most Americans in their daily struggles. They are simultaneously working on the second white themed album titled, “Empowered We Stand”, which is set to be released by fall 2010. With the third album “Divided They Fall” being released near December 2010, the Heaviweightz continue to stay motivated while producing a unique quality sound with an essential message that is guaranteed to produce hip hop music that demands attention and captivates the listener with their style. In the future the Heaviweightz aspire not only to be career musicians, but also to seek and pursue avenues in entertainment business as well as talent development. With their elite expertise in hip hop music, from their unique and captivating sounds to their overall demeanor, their music is a careful and well thought out expression of their artistic abilities.
