The hip-hop sensation, The Chosen Ones, came to life in 2008 when Kenny Thompson and Thomas Fox met in the small college town of Tiffin, Ohio. Kenny residing in Tiffin at the time for college, noticed Thomas Fox, a native of Tiffin, singing at a typical college party and came to the conclusion that Fox may be able to add a different flavor to the music he was working on at the time.
The duo recorded their first song together entitled, “My Life” and the rest is history. Well, not quite, there is a much longer journey filled with twists, turns, ups, and downs that brings the two aspiring rappers to where they are today. Their journey has made them strong, confident, young artists and helped contribute to their unique, infectious sound and their unconcerned with what other people think of them attitude.
From club tracks such as “Get The Party Started” to truly lyrically charged singles like “Forgive and Forgiven” The Chosen Ones have an innate ability to reach out to and relate to people of all different backgrounds and age groups through their music. They are ever evolving musically, artistically, and personally. To think this is only the beginning, it is almost impossible to imagine the profound impact The Chosen Ones will have on the music industry in years to come. It is that fact mixed with their sound that leaves fans on the edge of their seats waiting for the release of new music.
A detail unknown to most, The Chosen Ones came up with their former name, The Stripper Boyz, because they used to accompany Fox’s sister and her fellow dancer friends to and from different clubs as a form of security and protection, hence, The Stripper Boyz. After consulting with industry professionals in Los Angeles, California, The Stripper Boyz swiftly transformed themselves into what know now as The Chosen Ones in an attempt to make their stage name more “radio ready” and more friendly to the “average listener.” You can still find The Chosen Ones first self-produced album, I’m Just Saynedoe on iTunes under their former alias, The Stripper Boyz.
The Chosen Ones have commanded the stage in multiple venues throughout Ohio and the Midwest. Both Thompson and Fox are now residents of Orlando, Florida where they are attending Full Sail University, majoring in Recording Arts. They are currently booking shows in Orlando, Florida and other major cities in the south. They will be releasing their new album in December of 2011 as they continue working towards their ultimate goal of getting signed to a major label.
