To say Hopsin's third album is long overdue is like saying FEMA's response to Hurricane Katrina was slightly delayed. It's been three years since he dropped his critically acclaimed sophomore album Raw. Since then, he's toured the country extensively and landed a spot on XXL's 2013 Freshman list.

Lets be real, most of us can't even afford to buy CDs at retail value. At least that's what we tell ourselves as we pirate just about every record we can get our hands on. That being said, there are some things in life that just aren't accessible for free on the internet no matter how badly we want them to be. One of those things is food. Another is live performances. "Bullshit! 50 is streaming his SXSW performance for free on March 11th," you might say. Well, first off, stop being a smart ass. Second, while it's true you might be able to "see" Mr.

Years after the release of his debut album Follow Me Home, TDE's Jay Rock has officially parted ways with Tech N9ne's Strange Music label. Fans speculated that this split might happen when Rock only appeared for a brief verse on Tech's Strangeulation LP earlier this year, a project that gave sizable shine to just about every other member of the label. In addition to Rock, Kutt Calhoun, one of the label's original signees, has decided to part ways with Strange as well.

In his “Essays on the Intellectual Powers of a Man,” Thomas Reid made the claim that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. When the philosopher said this in the 1700s, the concept of a compilation album (or an “album” for that matter) was hundreds of years away and yet the words could not apply more appropriately.

Violence isn't an odd topic in hip-hop music by any stretch of the imagination; there probably hasn't been a mainstream rap album to hit stores this year in which an emcee didn't at least threaten to kill someone. Gun violence and homicide are an epidemic in hip-hop. Cannibalism, torture, and crucification, on the other hand, are harder topics to come by.

There's quite a bit of repetition in the game these days, and specific lyrics tend to get overlooked. This is an opportunity to take a closer listen and really consider what these artists have to say. We encourage your opinions. Keep in mind, these are the most noteworthy lyrics of the week, not necessarily the best. Also, it's hard to get everything right - if you notice any errors, don't hesitate to let us know in the comments section. Lines we're not quite sure about will be bolded.

This week the hip-hop underground proves you don't need to be mainstream to top the Billboard 200, at least these days. Two mainstays within the underground movement debuted within the top 10 of the Billboard charts this week. Both have been around for more than a decade, and thus have developed loyal followings before the age of torrenting and illegal downloads, which perhaps works in their favor now.

Tech N9ne has been doing music since the '90s, and along the way he's picked up a fan or two (or a lot more). However, the rapper still isn't satisified, and he continues to grind to reach those people who have yet to call themselves Tech N9ne fans. Although, he's aware of why people may be put off by his Strange style, from the way he dresses to his musical output, he's definitely in a lane all on his own. Now, though, Tech is ready to cross over to that mainstream lane, and he's breaking down doors to do it.

The last word most fans would use to describe Tech N9ne is "gimmicky," in fact, it seems he tries to be quite the opposite. Although more recently Tech has gotten some shine in the mainstream, he's still remained true to his sound, and in his own words, he's made the mainstream come to him rather than vice versa.
