- We Back (Interlude)
The group SUS consists of a Chicago native, Poontune (Jordan McCord, 22), and two Atlanta natives, B-Rock (BaRack Little, 21), and J-Mulah (Johnathan Muhammad, 23). The group came together in 2009 at Colgate University in New York where they all attend school. They started by just recording songs in the school studio for fun, but once fellow students heard some of the songs, they were amazed at the talent that these three fellow students and friends had. The buzz was so big at Colgate that SUS had a concert in early April, 2009. The building in which the concert was in was jam-packed and full, and the concert was a great success. SUS’s music continued to spread and get publicity around the upstate New York area, so much that they were one of the groups to open up for Lupe Fiasco at his concert at Colgate on April 25th! There were over 3,000 people at the concert, and when SUS performed “Southside Glide,” the whole crowd went crazy and was trying to learn/do the dance. In early May, right before school let out, SUS recorded a music video for the “Southside Glide,” directed by fellow student Alexander Coco. The video was recorded in a video production lab at Colgate University, and it was completed with no money spent. Although no money was spent, the video still turned out to be a success, receiving over 10,000 views on youtube in the first few months. There was a group made in support of this “Southside Glide Movement” on Facebook, and in the first two weeks it already has 1,500 members. Since their early buzz, S.U.S. has continued to produce good music and grow their buzz. They released their debut mixtape "Fresh Out the Gate" in the fall of 2009, which consisted of the Southside Glide and also another hit song entitled "Show Out" which also received over 10,000 youtube views. These songs and their buzz helped S.U.S. receive offers to perform at Cornell University, and also at clubs in Atlanta. They released their second mixtape "From G's To Gents" in April of 2011 which consisted of the hit song "Colgate" featuring Lil Dell, in which the group shows their love for the school they attend. Colgate has continued to do shows around campus, and plans on expanding even more once school is over. They have just finished their 3rd mixtape, entitled "Fresh Out the Gate Pt. 2" which is scheduled to release Friday, August 24th 2012.
