WHiT endured the heat as she held it down on the green carpet before the show, interviewing 16 rappers, producers, and industry power players, including DeJ Loaf, Big K.R.I.T, Redman, Casey Veggies, Southside, and many more.
Mos Def Responds To Lupe Fiasco & King Los: "I’m Not Trying To Arrange Fights With Them”
Fans of battle rapping, lyricism and all-around #BARS rejoiced yesterday when it looked like Lupe Fiasco and King Los were about to jump into the ring with Mos Def (AKA Yasiin Bey), who had issued a challenge to other rappers to battle him.
Mos Def Invites Rappers To Battle Him, Lupe Fiasco & King Los Respond
Mos Def seems to be inspired by the recent wave of rap beef, and he's ready to take on a battle of his own. The rapper shared a video challenge today, suggesting he, King Los, and Black Thought could take on any rapper in a battle. It didn't take long for rappers to start responding, with King Los co-signing the challenge, and Lupe Fiasco starting writing some mock bars (including one with a Quentin Miller punchline).

2015 has truly been a landmark year for hip-hop. There have been countless quality album releases from rappers all over, impressive music videos, and the emergence of a new crop of rappers. The ambition and attention to detail on this year’s releases, exemplified by their authoring emcees is indicative of a current renaissance in hip-hop.
Charts Don't Lie: July 4th
The only true debut in this week's charts came from King Los' God Money War. While the pre-cursor to Los' upcoming official debut managed to move 7,357 units (8,331 with streams), it only came in at number 67. Another notable debut was Tyga's Gold Album, though it actually failed to crack the Billboard 200. Released on Spotify on a Tuesday and later as an iTunes Download on a Friday, T-Raww's new album had a near full-week of streams and a few days of purchases to accumulate under 5,000 sales.

King Los Says Pharrell's On His Debut Album, Will Be Out Late 2015 Or Early 2016
Last week, King Los came up to the HNHH office to play us some new music from his project God Money War (dropping tomorrow) and sit in for an interview, and in addition to detailing the new download-only release, he shed some light on his upcoming debut album. Still untitled, the project will feature Pharrell, and Los is aiming to get it out either late this year, or first quarter 2016. "Just know I got Pharrell on deck," Los said, "And I got some legends on deck. Just know, they on standby."

King Los shared the soulful, R. Kelly-assisted "Glory To The Lord" yesterday, and his new project seemed closer than ever. Sure enough, today Los has revealed the release date for God Money War, which will be available June 23rd.

Hip-Hop Reacts To The Death Of Freddie Gray & Baltimore Riots
On April 12, 25-year-old Freddie Gray was arrested in Baltimore for possession of a switchblade, though it's still not clear why he was pursued in the first place. Police claim Gray was apprehended without force, though bystanders have suggested otherwise, and video evidence shows Gray screaming while being forced into the police's van. What happened next is still being investigated, though by the time Gray arrived at the police station, he was unresponsive, unable to talk or breathe.

Earlier today we premiered a new record from former Bad Boy rapper King Los, "Only One Of Me." Along with the new single, Los had some big news to share; he inked a deal with RCA for himself and the After Platinum imprint. Now, in a press release about the new deal, we get a few more details. The rapper is working on his debut album for 2015 which will be executive produced by Diddy.
