Shiesty L was born in Germany on January 2nd, 1983. He then moved to the Bronx (and later on, Far Rockaway), New York. His teenage days were filled with gangs, drug dealing, girls and music.
The area which he frequented as a youth was Sheridan Avenue (known in the streets as 'Shiesty Ave'). From his time spent there, he was dubbed 'Shiesty L' and began to hone his rapping style into what it has become today. When asked recall one of his early inspirations, he responded, "One of my English teachers in high school read a handful of my poems and encouraged me to pursue rap as a creative literary outlet. So I took it upon myself to adamantly listen to such artists as Eminem, Nas and Canibus. I was looking not only to be a listener, but to impact others when they listen to me."
He has released many songs, with cameos by such major underground rap artists as Loaded Lux, Murder Mook, Cashis, Bobby Creek and Ransom. Stemming from his love of music came the hunger to learn more about the audio and visual aspects of the entertainment industry. That same hunger led him to move to Rhode Island where he has been able to take the 'Ocean State' by storm.
His music video debut came as a result of a collaboration with the YouTube media outlet UndeniableTV but has since moved on to direct his own videos. His most recent video for the song 'Let The Wrong Ones In' (from his upcoming solo album Shiestyology: Pros and Cons) was his directorial debut put together with the help of the team over at exist.multimedia.
Throughout the making of his album, he attended the New England Institute of Technology to further educate himself in video and audio technology. It was here that he also oversaw the production of 'The Butterfly Effect Mixtape' for his musical colective Shiesty Elite.
Other ventures that he has undergone include organizing a talent search in Rhode Island with Lady Luck from MTV's rap battle show 'Fight Klub'. When asked about his future aspirations, he readily replied, "" am looking forward to making my mark in the [media] industry. Not only in front of the camera and microphone, but behind them as well."
He credits his inspiration as having come from his children. "They are my drive to succeed, but I would like to thank my close friends and family for their support and encouragement as well. I am here and am not leaving until everybody knows who 'Shiesty L' is."
