10 Best Hip-Hop Crews Of All Time

The hip hop crew is an essential part of success. Whether big or small, every rapper has an entourage. Sometimes it's full of rappers, and other times it's just his buddies from back in the day, nonetheless, weak links in a crew can water down the crew as a whole-- something we took into consideration when crafting this list. You have the multimedia approach that Odd Future takes, and also the full-on lyrical assault that Wu-Tang Clan makes. ScHoolboy Q has been uncharacteristically quiet since the release of his debut physical album, Oxymoron, last year, surprisingly not even making an appearance on Kendrick Lamar's recent album, To Pimp A Butterfly. The lack of features we've heard from Q may have something to do with his focus on a follow-up LP, which he briefly spoke on in a Twitter Q&A today.

Advancements of the infinite tool that is the Internet have made collaborating among musicians exponentially easier. Gone are the days where it was nearly impossible to create music without musicians being in the same studio at the same time. Now artists and producers are able to collaborate despite being in different parts of the country, or even across the globe. One can simply email over a verse or an instrumental that can be worked with, and tweaked, into a musical masterpiece. Summer's here, and festival season has arrived. Unfortunately, for hip-hop heads, most of the summer's premier music destinations are filled with laptop DJs or bands that introduced your parents to LSD 40 years ago. Luckily, for all of us on the East Coast, there's Summer Jam. Though it's just one day, the HOT 97-curated concert features over 10 hours of straight hip-hop in Giants' stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

After 'Ye, she moved on to Wiz Khalifa, whom she married two years later. Somehow between marriage and a kid, Rose continued to cement herself as one of the baddest bitches in hip-hop.

There's a lot of bickering about lyrical content in today's rap game--well, that's always been the case. But old-headed purists argue, and will continue to argue, that today's lyricists lack the depth of their long gone favorite MCs. Of course, what you look for in a rapper depends on your personal taste. Sometimes, lyrics might take a back seat. Sure, "flow" is heightened with impressive wordplay, but many of today's most prolific rappers bang most of their buck with vocal cadence, pitching and stretching their voices to meld with a specific beat.

From the beginning, Odd Future's taste has been as visible as their music. When they first hit the scene, we knew they hated west coast jerking trends, and loved The Neptunes and Adventure Time. Now with the Odd Future Carnival becoming an annual event, OF leader Tyler, The Creator gets to put his favorite stuff on a pedestal for a huge audience, so this year he made sure to bring one of his favorite acts (N.E.R.D) together on stage.
