Wooing crowds with smooth harmonies that are intertwined with hard hitting raps, RydazNRtist have masterfully created a uniquely soulful sound with pop appeal that is reminiscent of superstar groups such as Boyz II Men and Jodeci. They’re unique name is in fact an exact description of their group and each individual, not only a combination of their names, but a definition of who they are: Writers and Artists.
Comprised of Kevin Writer (23), GQ Ryda (22) and Reuben (19), RydazNRtist formed in 2008 when Writer began working with Reuben. GQ Ryda was introduced later that year and immediate chemistry sparked when the three sat down to pen their first song together. Shortly after, the group signed to Nick Cannon's NCredible Entertainment where he immediately started working with them to produce their first mixtape, “Strip Club Music.”
Playing both the drums and piano, the musically inclined Kevin Writer serves as the groups producer. Writer’s passion for the music business was ignited as a teenager during his internship for gospel singer/producer, Fred Hammond. GQ Ryda also found his love for music in gospel, singing in church choirs and impersonating Michael Jackson at the young age of five. The trio's hip hop edge and comical side is projected through Reuben, who is the most laid back and humorous member of the group. Reuben has also been singing and dancing since a very early age as well. Nearly drafted to the Seattle Mariners in 2007, Reuben chose instead to pursue his true passion in music as the youngest member of the group.
Hailing from North Carolina and Detroit, the young men of RydazNRtist each exude midwest and southern charm, combined with a light hearted sense of humor. Bonded by their firm belief that God always comes first, these truly talented rising stars not only sing and rap, but write and produce all of their music.
RydazNRtist’s debut effort “Strip Club Music” is a collective work that satisfies all senses -- with ballads such as their debut single “Sorry Ass Apology” -- a smooth anthem which expresses feelings that every person who’s been wronged or done wrong in a relationship can relate to, club bangers such as “Best Night” -- an ode to a one night stand and the groups sexual prowess as well as “Give You My All” -- a song that showcases their romantic side and ability to fulfill a woman’s wants and needs.
“Its our first album, so we're communicating how real we are as artists," says Kevin Writer. "We have songs for the club, the car and the crib. We just want our fans to be able to relate to every record.”
RydazNRtist is currently touring nationally on BET’s 106 & Park tour with Trey Songz and Mario. For more information, visit www.myspace.com/rydaznrtist
