Born May 1987 Roy ‘Royal Mac’ McLemore was born in South Phoenix, Arizona. Royal always had an ear for music listening to different artist ranging from lyrical rap artist like Tupac Shakur to RnB sensation artist like R Kelly. Although, a lot of his family members were involved in the street life they taught Royal the importance of positivity and education. Raised in West Phoenix by his single mother and uncles Royals’ main focus of his young life was playing basketball and self-education. Around the age of 12, Royal met one of closest friends Ronnie ‘Rothstein’ Land who introduced him to the studio aspect of music. Although, Royal was introduced to music he did not begin to record music until around the age of 15 with his other closest friend and God brother Darnell ‘Duece’ Terry who comes from a long line of musicans. In 2006, being a laid back, intellectual, and confident person him and his close friends decided formed a group by the name of the Dough Boyz which included: Duece, Ronnie Rothstein, and Phya. With the Dough Boyz in full effect the group started branding themselves throughout Arizona performing and releasing songs off of their mixtape 28 Grams (The Zone). This success was short lived due to the group deciding to go their separate ways and focus on solo projects. Royals’ focus then begin to shift towards other venues associated with music, particularly the business side of music in which he begin to study at Phoenix College. His focus then begin to move towards other ventures which made him shift his attention from music temporarily. Now, in his early 20s Royals’ focus is back on recording himself as well as others. With his unique sound and raunchy lyrics Royal is able to channel his life experiences through his music.
