Many up-and-coming artists dream of fame and fortune, but for 23 year old Timothy M. Tom Jr., or as he’s known by close friends and fan base “RoyalT”, the real dream is having his music credited for what it is…true grit from a passionate musician. With lyrics that hit hard to the mind like TuPac, yet beats that feed the body rhythm and get heads bobbing, RoyalT’s tracks aren’t just for the hip hop fans. On each track he spins a story with mind-blowing lyrics; whether they’re telling a chilling tale of heartbreak and animosity, or a comedy full of puns and quirks. Starting out in the game at 15 years old, RoyalT knew who he was and where he wanted to go. After hearing close friends spit freestyles in his native Milwaukee, Wisconsin he was hooked. He began producing his own beats and writing hard-hitting, real life lyrics in his basement bedroom for hours or sometimes days straight. Basing his music around favorite artists such as, Bone Thugs’N’Harmony, Metallica, Snoop Dogg, Guns’N’Roses, and his all-time favorite TuPac, RoyalT had a selection of music to veer off of to form his own sound. He may sound as if he only did small time work, but in reality he was doing big things behind the scenes, like opening shows for such artists as Hollywood High in 2008, and Bone Thugs’N’Harmony in 2009. The further down the road he went, the bigger his steps got; in 2011 RoyalT met Josh and David of JD Entertainment through a mutual friend. The three began discussing business and shortly thereafter JD Ent. signed RoyalT to their label. In a recording booth and studio in David and Josh’s basement, RoyalT spent numerous hours creating beats and writing copious pages of lyrics. Today, RoyalT still spends hours into days in the recording booth creating and perfecting all kinds of music in hopes of one day being known worldwide for it.
