Born and Raised on East side of Bryan, Texas, better known as Kurrupt City. Roderick World Harris Jr.'s life was at a fork in the road: commit his days to the streets or pave a trail that a true God-fearing individual would follow. When the Kansas Jayhawks, came knocking on his door offering an NCAA Division I football scholarship, Harris accepted the offer to start a new life, for him and his family. Despite his athletic abilities, Harris's true passion was music. After an injury plagued NCAA career and as the offseason arose going in his final season, Rod's focus was shifted towards his dream of hip hop stardom. Taking on the alias MerQury, Rod set his course to share his visions of life and success with the world. To Rod, the name MerQury holds two distinctive meanings. The name was derived from the Greek god Mercury, the paramount messenger to the Gods, delivering each message with authority, integrity, and momentum. The Q comes his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, an African-American organization founded on the phrase friendship is essential to the soul. Manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift were adopted as cardinal principles that Rod has taken to heart, lives his life by, and expresses in his music.
