Emmanuel David Noel Solages is a Montreal native who uses the stage name Stokes as a mononym.
Born on the 27th of July 1984, his Haitian roots gave birth to his love and passion for music in his early years.
In 2007, his affiliation with school mates KARDI & MJC forming together DUO TANGPRODUCTION, was what people describe nowadays as perfect chemistry by offering variety of sounds ranging from jazz to underground hip-hop.
Stokes’ first mix tape titled “Too smart for my own good”, dropped in 2009. The tape in itself was what we call a quest for identity. Therefore, it is only on the following year, after releasing his sophomore project titled Knowledge Management that this poet started rising the eye brows of a few hip hop lovers. The mixtape was not delivered unannounced because an official release party took place in a venue located in the heart of the city.
In 2011, the end of the trilogy was revealed with another mixtape, this time called akademik discipline. Realizing the success of his first event, this ambitious go getter, followed in the same footsteps unveiling his first video ‘Amnesia’ featuring MJC consequently capitalizing on the opportunity. I don’t know about you but I call this dedication, determination and Perseverance.
Just when you think he’s done, he is not even close to—second video, “Swag Most Wanted was released January 1, 2012 after a short absence in the industry.
Stokes had the pleasure of attending a music symposium in Washington D.C. organized by Lisa Davis, CEO of Lisa Davis management, where he received critically-acclaimed views on his music portfolio and performance.
Currently, he has his third video “We are not Alone” in production with the collaboration of step 5 records recording artist Voyce.
In conclusion, Stokes is an independent artist who is definitely on the rise and is a force to be reckoned with……Stay tuned!!!!
