The Game, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg & More Respond To Birdman's Breakfast Club Walk-Out
This morning, Birdman gave us a healthy dose of drama by pulling up and then quickly backing out of his interview with The Breakfast Club, all within the span of two minutes.
10 Essential Kehlani Tracks
The twenty-year-old Kehlani has been doing music since she was barely a teenager, and since then has become a rising star in the pop world. In 2014, she released the mixtape Cloud 19, and followed it up last year with You Should Be Here. She was even nominated for a Grammy this year for Best Urban Contemporary Album, but ultimately lost out to The Weeknd.
Pusha T & G.O.O.D. Music, A$AP Rocky, Young Thug & More Announced For Summer Jam's Stadium Stage
Earlier in the week, Hot 97 shared the line-up for their festival stage, which serves as a smaller outdoor stage that warms up fans before they head inside the MetLife Stadium for the rest of the night.
When's the last time you heard it like this? You may still bump Pusha T on the daily (No Malice too, no shade there), but there was something extremely special about the chemistry between Push and his brother No Malice. Taking that one level deeper, the chemistry between those two bros and The Neptunes was equally undeniable. Together, the quartet composed some of the most iconic songs from the early 00s era of rap. Cuts like "Grindin'," "When the Last Time," and "Popular Demand (Popeyes)" continue to bless sound-systems across the country.
Pusha T Gives Lecture At Harvard University
Pusha T is the latest rapper to speak at an elite university, as Harvard students were treated to a lecture from the GOOD Music President, followed by a 45-minute Q&A session, on Thursday (Mar. 31). "It was an amazing experience hearing a Harvard professor recite my lyrics at this lecture," Push wrote on Instagram in the caption of a video of said professor mentioning a line of his -- "I philosophize about glocks and keys / N*ggas call me young black Socrates" -- from the track "Momma I'm So Sorry," off Clipse's 2006 album Hell Hath No Fury.
Pusha T Reveals He Has Two New Adidas Sneakers On The Way
Pusha T is one of the many dope musical artist that adidas has snapped up over the past few years. His signature sneaker has de facto become the adidas EQT Running Guidance ’93, as the Clipse member has released two versions of that model so far: the “King Push” cream look, and the “Black Market” murdered out look. During a recent Twitter Q&A session, Pusha revealed that he has not one, but two new adidias kicks in the pipeline.
Photo Diary: SXSW
March 15 & March 16 We're taking on SXSW literally as I type this. As I type this, I'm sitting in a studio in Austin suburbia, where we expect to create some fire emoji collaborations with everyone from Nessly to Audio Push to Skeme to Allan Kingdom and more. However let's rewind a couple of days, and run through everything we've seen and done in our two days since landing in the Lone Star state.
Top Tracks: February 22 - February 28
Other than some resurfacing beefs (between Young Thug and The Game, and Rick Ross and Birdman, respectively) and the beginning of what is sure to be another drawn-out, highly-publicized Kanye West album rollout, it was a relatively quiet week, especially as far as full-length releases went.
Who Had The Better Verse: Kanye West Vs. Big Sean
As we continue to revel in the the season that is Yeezy, it's hard to not consider Kanye West’s body of work as a whole as nothing short of amazing.
Everything You Need To Know About Desiigner
In two months, Desiigner has gone from virtual unknown, just another anonymous rapper, looking to gain any sort of foothold, to internet sensation. His breakout hit "Panda" has garnered 3.7 million plays on SoundCloud. It has earned him a record deal with G.O.O.D. Music and two appearances on Kanye West's The Life of Pablo.
Pusha T Donated Water Bottles To Flint And Didn’t Want Anyone To Know
Lots of rappers are chipping in to help out with the Flint water crisis.
Charts Don't Lie: December 30th
Christmas is always a big week for album sales, and we saw a few releases dropping December 18th, just in time for last minute gifts. Chris Brown's Royalty certainly seemed to benefit from the strategy, coming in with a big week, despite not earning the usual smash single that precedes Brown's albums. Pusha T's prelude album Darkest Before Dawn was a little lower down at 20, but seeing as its just a warm-up for the GOOD Music president's proper album, King Push, it's not too bad of a placement.
Pusha T Reveals New Big Sean LP Will Be Among First G.O.O.D. Music Releases In 2016
Pusha T has been doing a ton of interviews in the wake of his new album, Darkest Before Dawn.
Top Tracks: December 21 - December 27
Things were just beginning to slow down, as we had spent enough time arguing over the year's best music with a series of year-end lists and were ready to start thinking about what's in store for 2016. As we approached the holidays, though, some of our favorite artists were feeling particularly generous and gifted us with a wealth of new material.
Chris Brown's "Royalty" Debuts At No. 3, Behind Adele and Bieber
The first-week sales numbers for Chris Brown's Royalty are in, and though Breezy's seventh album performed even better than was expected -- selling 184,000 units -- it did not top the charts. In fact, for the week ending Dec. 24, Royalty made its debut at No. 3, behind Justin Bieber's Purpose, released on Nov.
Quiz: How Well Do You Know Pusha T?
Pusha T has been in the game for quite some time, and he's basically had two lives as a rapper; first with his brother (No) Malice as part of the highly rated yet underground duo Clipse, and then, in present day, a second spurt as a solo artist under the G.O.O.D. Music umbrella. It's rare to keep both longevity and relevancy as a rapper, and so he's obviously doing something right, whether it's menacing bars or atypical production.
Review: Pusha T's "King Push - Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude"
Sometimes, first reactions are wildly off the mark, and that was the case with me upon hearing the first few leaks from Pusha T's Darkest Before Dawn. Regardless of the production or other lyrics on "Untouchable" and "M.F.T.R.," I couldn't shake the fact that Pusha Ton was still rapping about cocaine.
Pusha T On A Joint LP With The-Dream, His Favorite Future Release & Beanie Sigel
On Friday, Pusha T dropped off the prelude to his highly anticipated album, King Push. Although acting as a warm-up album, Darkest Before Dawn is about as dope of an album as any rapper could wish for. Trimmed of any excess fat, Push keeps the album at 10 tracks, with features that compliment his dark style without overpowering him-- except for maybe that Beanie Sigel verse, as we discuss later in our interview. It might even be a better record than his debut, My Name Is My Name (should I be so bold as to say it?).
First Week Sales Projections For Chris Brown's "Royalty" & Pusha T's "Darkest Before Dawn"
Pusha T and Chris Brown made sure we were covered for the holidays with their respective albums, Darkest Before Dawn and Royalty, both arriving in time to be given as Christmas gifts. With that in mind, we've received the first week sales projections for either album today, via the ever reliable HitsDailyDouble.
Listen To A Snippet Of A New Pusha T & Pharrell Collab
The release of Pusha T's Darkest Before Dawn was especially dramatic as it arrived with an accompanying short film. Those who made it through to the final credits of the 22-minute video would've heard a brand new song that didn't appear on Darkest Before Dawn. That song features Pharrell, and audio of the nearly 2-minute snippet is now available. Listen below.
